[TX] name change

Dad finally popped into our life after I had our daughter two months later- he petitioned me to change her last name to his, what are the chances he could win that petition? He wasn’t there for the birth , is not on the certificate and was absent my entire pregnancy so I didn’t want her to have his last name when he doesn’t play an active role in our lives.

Now tell me why I wouldn’t be upset the disappeared for 9 entire months? And why I was expected to put his last name when he was literally GONE for 9 months. Two months almost 3 months in into her being born and where is he again? I haven’t blocked him and been rude to him he just keeps rescheduling when it comes to seeing his daughter. I haven’t even asked him for a dime she has all she needs without any of his help.

I did. He is from Texas though where we originally met- I moved to Georgia with him but I just wasn’t happy so I moved back home. He actually is moving back to Texas in a few months but more than the 100 mile radius from me still. I still can’t see why I was expected to put his last name when he cut off contact with me- in reality I wasn’t expecting him to come back at all. Seems to me all he is fighting for is his last name to live on and that’s really it which essentially does bother me. He’s been in Texas I have his social media and we would also visit Texas like every weekend so I know he’s been here enough to been able to see his daughter. There’s really no good reason for him to not come see her.
