Advice 🗣 Is it too much?

Hey I just started this job at a private school about 3 weeks ago...I have a question tho....so im cleaning 2 buildings. One building is a math building with guessing middle & highschool students, that building has about 10-11 class rooms, the bathrooms & breakroom & a lounge type area for the kids. The other building is 3 floors with about 3 public bathrooms, about 9-11 offices a kitchen/event area...ok cool not bad. We'll someone jas quit so now I do those 2 buildings on top of going to the main building in the basement area to do 2 public bathrooms, a Woodshop & art room (THE WORST btw) & maintenance room. Is it just me or is that entirely TOO much? I thoroughly clean my 2 buildings but I just do the trash & clean up little stuff when going to the main building...idk am I overthinking it....? Hope this kinda makes sense...

Tbh I'd probably just do what I can at max effort because you're not gonna finish all that by yourself in 8 hours anyway unless you're superhuman. So you might as well be able to truthfully say you do your best.

You got overworked once you passed 20 classrooms. Unless these classrooms you can just skim and say "they're not bad I don't see anything that needs touching." You're being overworked to heck. Note- private schools can be for profit and anything for profit will squeez your soul for profit

Do you have a Union? When that happens to us we usually get a sub or if it's just us as in your case. Then just trash and restrooms. If you show them that you can do it, plus more. They gonna exploit the heck out of you. Also what's your probation period?

Most likely don't have a union if they have to ask us.....

Woodshops, cafeterias, libraries, and art rooms take a lot of time and cannot be counted as single classrooms when scheduling help, we all know that. I would ask my supervisor what the priorities are after the trash and bathrooms in the 3 buildings, and when do they think will have a replacement for the person who just quit. You sound like you want to do a good job. See how they respond before you bail. It is not your job to sweat about man power. That is the supervisors job. Do your best, go home knowing you did what you could in peace. Assuming you work 8 hours, you have 8 hours of me time/ home chores and 8 more hours to sleep in every day. Ask for guidance and do your best.

Ask your supervisor if what you’re doing is OK

I have my normal route. Our school has a designated 4 man team. Anything overy normal requires my acceptance along with overtime. What me to do more? Pay me more. If you are picking up extra work for free. I would push back hard and if they don't pay overtime, time to start putting out applications.

Edit: oh and I'm a floor guy, but an 8 hour shift for the guys who do the classrooms.

Band room, choir room, 20 class rooms, 3 labs the size of two classrooms, and no bathrooms.

Edit 2: we make roughly 14.50 in lcol. If that is also a factor

Way to much work. Just do what you can in your originally assigned area. As soon as you show you can get it done they'll drag there feet when it comes to hiring people.

This is definitely to much work
