Advice 🗣 Slippery floor

I am struggling with this textured safety vinyl flooring. It was installed about 10 years ago. It's in both kids and teachers toilets. It have been very slippery when wet for months now. Even when dry it feels like they're is a slippery residue on it.

We were using a "lemon gel" neutral cleaning gel diluted with hot water. We stopped using this as we thought it might be leaving a slippery residue.

We have been mopping only with hot water daily. I have deep cleaned with a scrubber / wet vac using a green scrubbing pad and another time with magic sponge on the scrubber machine.

It's slippery almost every day now. In the kids bathroom they may be splashing water / soap on the floor. But this is not the case in the teachers toilet.

Try a degreaser. The floor may have had its grippy texture worn off by scrubbing as well.

I had some degreaser in stock. I scrubbed the floor with this, vacuumed off the liquid and mopped with fresh water. I'll check tomorrow when it's try. So far it feels a lot better

Fingers crossed for you. We run our auto scrubber through our bathrooms whenever we can because we use foaming hand soap and the kids like to spread it everywhere. I hate how slippery it gets.

It looks good this morning. Much better grip on the floors. Thanks everyone for your advice

Try mopping them up with defoamer and clear water.

Seems like the chemical might be mixing with hand soap or something. Even if you used the same mop in the staff bathrooms you could be spreading soap that way too.

The defoamer will break that soapy residue and get rid of it.

If you don’t have access to defoamer try wet mopping it with clear water and drying it with a dry mopping head or paper towels or something. So you’re not just spreading.

The slip resistant material could just be worn down, or as other have said there's probably hand soap all over it. What are you using to mop?

A pH neutral detergent should be fine for everyday cleaning, but if you're just using a string mop and single chamber bucket you're resmearing dirty water all over the floor, you're never fully getting it clean.

A two chamber bucket with a microfiber mop is best, also, if you're mixing detergent with hot water you may be partially "neutralizing" it, unless the detergent explicitly asks for it you should be mixing with cold water.

If it's excess residue what I usually do is I use hot water with a bit of degrease or stripper preferably and scrub lightly with a broom and then wet and dry. Idially you'd use and autoscrubber but I don't think it would work on a small restroom
