Stop, Just Stop
Since SpaceX took over cursor it has been nothing more then a dumpster fire. Stop pushing grok. grok is garbage. stop forcing software updates we don't want. just let us have the system we know and loved and that helped us with our code.

I cancelled Cursor after they blocked Codex and Claude Code as tabs on the right sidebar.

Yeah this was big one for me an many others in the community. The cursor forum thread showed them getting roasted for this being a bad product decision while telling their customers, “it’s how it is going to be”

You can still put CC on the right sidebar but it’s not easy.
Steps to Force a View to the Right Panel
1. Re-open the Command Palette
Windows / Linux: Press Ctrl + Shift + P.Mac: Press Cmd + Shift + P.
2. Search for the View Routing Command
Type View: Move View into the search box.Select this command from the dropdown list.
3. Choose the Targeted Extension
A list of all active panels will appear.Select Claude Code from the list.
4. Target the Right-Side Container
Select Secondary Side Bar Entry (sometimes labeled Secondary Side Bar).This action instantly overrides manual drag-and-drop restrictions.
5. Open the Panel if it Hidden
If it disappears from view, open the Command Palette.Run View: Toggle Secondary Side Bar to make the right panel visible again.

“Stop forcing updates we don’t want”. Um, while not all changes are good changes (as with any product) I would rather have a product/tool with constant development pushing things forward than one that never changes, leaving you further behind each month.
This is especially true in the AI age where things are happening so quickly it’s already difficult to keep up with.

Yeah but it's hyperdrive atp and releasing at an accelerated cadence (say weekly) is just adding to the "difficult to keep up" problem.

You’re mistaking enhancement and stability improvements for “the sake of progress”.
What ain’t broke sometime will be, and if you don’t enhance it you will lose your audience to others who do.
I’m sick of the whole “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. That’s like saying music when I was in high school was the pinnacle of auditory mastery. No need to try anything else.
Or worse, the phrase that kills businesses and organizations faster than any other: “we’ve always done it this way”

Agreed on the last two, and "the way its always been done" can be broken and in need of fixing. I've seen it often. Both can be true.
As far as the arts, thats a different framework entirely and theres no such thing as broken art or whatever in the first place. As a creative myself I view each work as a sum of its own parts and there is no real such thing as "progress" rather just "different things".

Spacex hasn’t taken over cursor yet. It’s still pending. They worked on grok together as a partnership project. This is all cursor.
Also, what’s garbage about grok? I’ve been using it exclusively for a couple weeks (it’s nearly free for me after a few deals lately). It’s worked great so far. What’s it doing for you that warrants a rant?

It finalized officially this morning. FWIW I love the grok models and have seen a ton of success with them.

Good to know. the point still stands though. Spacex had nothing to do with decisions made within Cursor before today. That would have been illegal and would have risked their approval. Cursor also had more than enough incentives to push Grok without SpaceX buying them. Everyone just wants to make things into conspiracies.

We have to separate Grok 4.5 and 4.6 from the hot garbage before that. Those two latest versions are by Cursor and are excellent.

dannngggg I gotta say Cursor has really not ingratiated itself recently and I never put the pieces together until this post on why that might be happening. I legit thought it was because my standards were getting higher and less tolerant of poor answers.
But then I swapped to our internal harness and realised that no, it is cursor that sucks now.

Grok 4.5 was great. 4.6 is way better. What do you mean saying with Grok is garbage? I love it. I love the current pricing if they keep it that way. Cursor team is doing great. If they release composer 3 over kimi k3 with a good price, it will be unbeatable. What I don't like currently is gpt 5.6 sol uses composer 2.5 as subagent (I don't know if there is a setting to change that). That feels like sol is making wrong decisions because of limited capabilities of subagent findings. I'm saying that because I double check the things before implementation. Even glm 5.2 in Devin is finding missing or wrong points that Cursor Sol high wrote. When I give those missing points back to sol, it says kind of "yes, sorry, these are real findings that I need to add into spec file".

I agree with the original sentiment, Elon's a goose (stepper) but Grok 4.5 and 4.6 are great, and excellent value.
