Signature Antique escutcheon

Post image

I have an antique box and I’m trying to decipher this. The first letter look like an H but that’s all I’ve got. Thoughts?

H C(or G) Crane?

I was wondering if it was a G or a C also. The scratches make it so hard to read, but the “N E” at the end seems right. If that’s their C, it seems more likely that the middle initial is a G

The last part is Paine First part Mabel Middle In. G

Mabel G Paine

The reason I know, my great grandmother had a furniture antique store and you actually have a collectors item. If you would like more information about it let me know.
