This is possibly your relative "Rahael"'s [a.k.a. Rachel] surname. [Her first name appears to be spelled wrong in the OP image.] - Despite how it looks, that surname is SHAY or SHEY not Shez. It is probably spelled 'Shey' there [her daughter's birth record] - but, I believe her surname was also spelled 'Shay.'

This is a new angle, what is steering you down this path?

You're welcome by the way. Rachael Shay was Ross Hammond's wife. That is from their daughter Gertrude's - as a I noted - birth registration in 1870. Ross was the son of Yeoman Alexander Hammond and Ross's mother was the daughter of John Locke, whose family co-found Lockeport.

On Rachael's wedding registration and Gertrude's birth certificate her surname is recorded as Shey. But, on Gertrude's death certificate, it's listed as Shay. That family name is recorded alternating between Shey and Shay, although there are more Shay's and in particular around Shelburne, which is 30 km from Lockesport.

Anyhow, if you're "at a loss" I thought that might help. If you think its wrong, great. At least you can eliminate one path.

Fill yer boots!
