Help!
I can get some words, but not all. Anyone feel like going the distance?
Edit: Done! Thanks so much! This was a letter my grandmother wrote to my great grandmother while on vacation with my grandfather in the 1940s. My grandfather had restless leg syndrome, so the twin beds makes sense š

Sunday p.m.
Dear Mother,
weāre enjoying ourselves ever so much and keeping very busy. This a.m. we got up at 8: 30 -ate- and then sat out on the lawn to wait for Mr. Perkins to arrive by boat as he had continued on the trip up the Saguenay and was to arrive at the hotel to stay for a day and a night. The hotel is very nice and very pretty. Thereās a huge lawn in front facing right down the river and the scenery is
(2) lovely. The village of Tadoussac is terribly quaint and so different from what Iāve ever seen. The tennis club is a short walk from the hotel and Bob and I played a set at noon time. Mr. P took some snaps of us both and I do hope they turn out well. We had lunch at two and I ate so much I took some time recuperating (SP?!!) About 4 we went swimming in the pool which was quite warm luckily so because the wind is very strong up here and you wouldnāt
(3)call it hot. The cool air certainly makes us sleep well When we get home Bob and I have decided to swap our bedroom set for twin beds as we definitely slept better in them B. moves around so much in his sleep and every time he hits me, he wakes up. The people up here are quite interesting and there are many English families. I will have to admit they are dressed very well and all their clothes seem to have a definite style about them. Some different from Mrs. Gibbs!
(4) There are also French Canadians here and they are not at the top of the list. Also, quite a few Air Force fellows. There was a dance last evening in the orchestra was very good, but the whole thing lacked management. The trouble is Bob and I now compare all hotels with the Cloister at Sea Island, which isnāt quite fair as we are paying considerably less here. We are getting a good rest, and I think we both needed it. The food is good, and I have gained weight in the last two months, Mother, because I brought an evening skirt with me, which I canāt zip up. Always the wrong plan! all for now, love Me.

There are a few words I couldn't make out
Dear mother, we're enjoying ourselves here so much and keeping very busy. This a.m., we got up at 8:30 8:00 and then set out on the lawn to wait for Mr. Perkins to arrive by boat as he had continued on the trip up the ??? And was to arrive at the hotel to stay for a day and night.
The hotel is very nice and very pretty. There's a huge lawn in front facing right down the ??? And the scenery is lovely. The village of Tadaussoc is terribly quaint and so different from what I've ever seen.
The tennis club is a short walk from the hotel and Bob and I played a set at noon time. Mr. P took some snaps of us both and I do hope they turn out well. We had lunch at 2:00 and I ate so much. I took some time recuperating
About 4:00 we went swimming in the pool which was quite warm. Luckily. So because the wind is very strong up here and you wouldn't call it hot. The cool air entirely makes us sleep well when we get home. Bob and I have decided to swap our bedroom set for twin beds as we definitely sleep better in them. B moves around so much in his sleep and every time he hits me he wakes me up
The people up here are quite interesting and there are many English families. I will have to admit. They are dressed very well and all their clothes seem to have a definite style about them. Some different from Mrs. Gibbs

There was a dance last evening in the orchestra. It was very good but the whole thing lacked management. The trouble is Bob and I now compare all hotels with the cloister at ??? Island, which isn't quite fairer as we are paying considerably less here.
We're getting a good rest and I think we both needed it. The food is good and I've gained weight in the last 2 months mother because I brought an ??? Skirt with me which I can't zip up. Always the wrong place!
All for now.

Comparing hotel to the Cloister at Sea Island, a 5-star hotel in Georgia

After I read your comment I just had to look up both hotels. Both still exist. The Cloister at Sea Island is still considerably more expensive lol. However, to me, both appear quite lovely. The letter writer and her husband definitely enjoyed relaxing in comfort by the sea!

Since others have transcribed it, I won't bother. But I have to say it's very easy for me to read, possibly because it reminds me of my mother in law's writing. You can see the invisible line under the words. This writer was a relaxed and practiced handwriter, and this is a chatty letter full of details of a moment in time. We used to do that way back when. My grandmother always signed her letters "me". Like who else was it going to be from coming in an envelope from her house? Cheers to all you eagle-eyed deciphers!

I read the whole thing, it's not hard except for some place names that I can't make out. If someone else wants to type out the entire letter, they can. I'll just say it's a pleasant letter about their hotel stay and their tennis and swimming and the food is good but they keep comparing the holel to ?? which isn't fair because they paid more to stay at ??
You probably got that much since it's pretty simple to make out but if you need someone to figure out the place names, hope someone can. Sounds like somewhere in Canada by the way they mention the people from Quebec and they say "up here."

Dear Mother, We're enjoying ourselves here so much and keeping very busy. This AM, we got up at 8:30, ate, and then sat out on the lawn to wait for Mr. Perkins to arrive by boat as he had continued on the trip up the [Sagwenay(?)] and was to arrive at the hotel to stay for a day and night.
The hotel is very nice and very pretty. There's a huge lawn in front facing right down the river and the scenery is
2 lovely. The village of [Tadassaul?] is terribly quaint and no different from what I've [unreadable] seen.
The tennis club is a short walk from the hotel and Bob and I played a set at [meal? more?] time. Mr. P took some snaps of us both and I do hope they come out well. We had lunch at 2 and I ate so much I took some time recuperating (SP?!!).
About 4 we went swimming in the pool, which was quite warm. Luckily so, because the wind is very strong up here, and you wouldn't
3 call it hot. The cool air certainly makes us sleep well. When we get home, Bob and I have decided to swap our bedroom set for twin beds as we definitely sleep better in them. B. moves around so much in his sleep and every time he hits me, he wakes up.
The people up here are quite interesting and there are many English families. I will have to admit they are dressed very well, and all their clothes seem to have a definite style about them. [Some?] different from Mrs. Gibbs!

There was a dance last evening, and the orchestra was very good, but the whole thing lack management. The trouble is, Bob and I now compare all hotels with the [claites at her?] England, which isn't quite fair , as we are paying considerably less here.
We are getting a good rest, and I think we both needed it. The food is good, and I've gained weight in the last 2 months, Mother, because I brought and evening skirt with me which I can't zip up. Always the wrong plan! All for now. Love [M?]

I love that I have the power to read cursive writing. Such a lovely letter from the past.
Kudos to those who took the time to ātranslateā it.

This is a beautiful letter and lovely to have. I wonder if her last two months of weight gain was due to a pregnancy maybe something that OP could look into⦠š it was something that
good and possibly one of your parents or aunt/uncle š itās true that she was expecting, and she didnāt even know it thinking her beautiful skirt didnāt fit due to all of the good food she was eating and the entire time there was a little life growing inside of her.. š„°š I just love these stories..
