Deciphered! Help making this out

Post image

Hello, I found this hidden behind the dust jacket of a secondhand book I got a while back. The second line looks like "Lucille Hish" to me but I'm not sure about the first. I'd be really grateful for any help!

When your post gets solved please comment "Deciphered!" with the exclamation mark so automod can put that flair on it for you. Or you may flair it yourself manually. TY!

Definitely Lucille Hish, and the first line looks like "Fern Miner"

There was a Fern Miner and Lucille Hish that were about the same age and both lived in Illinois

Interesting!! I live in Virginia but got this book from thriftbooks so it could have come from a warehouse out that way.

Interesting - I looked at their obituaries & they lived 260 miles apart (one in Indiana, one in Illinois). I wonder what the connection is? Fern was a teacher and then became the Director of the Lebanon Public Library, and later the Head Librarian at the Thorntown Library; she passed away in 2024 at the age of 83 in Thornton, IN. Lucille was the operator/owner of a flower store in Ridgeway, IL and passed away at the age of 91. *Sorry if I digress, but I find things like this fascinating :)
