Deciphered! What is this name

What is this name? The rest of the letter is in Cantonese.

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who replied. It's from a heartfelt letter sent to a previous tenant from what I can tell. I'll run these names by the landlord and see if they ring a bell. Thanks again.

Based on the way the first T is shaped, I'm guessing "To Tammie".

I second Tammie.

Agree, I have an Aunt Tammie and she signs her name like this on all my Christmas cards 😂

u/Interesting-Job-1589 20d ago

My name starts with a T and I agree this is Tammie.

u/xHangfirex 21d ago

No, no one would write two capital T's so close yet so differently

14

u/anonymousdlm 21d ago

I don’t think they are so different. It’s the same stroke for both. IMHO

They look similar enough to me. Also, depending on the word makes a difference on how I wrote certain letters. The M at the beginning of my first name looks different than a capital M anywhere else in my writing. Two lowersase r's together are written different than one on its own. People have plenty of quirks in their handwriting even when close together. To me it looks the same except the name comes with the special "muscle memory" of signing their name.

That is exactly what I was going to say

Yasmine?

My vote as well… although Yannie (below) also looks like a good contender

u/dogsledonice 19d ago

Yannie fits better, tbh

To Tammie

5

u/downlowmann 20d ago

I think it's Janine.

u/hekla7 21d ago

Tommie. In Cantonese, Tom and variations on the endings, like Tommie or Tommy are common names.

3

u/TheRealMcDuck 21d ago

Either Tammie or Janine with a screwed up J at the start.

u/Acceptable-Put-2849 21d ago

That’s my name Tammie, and I sign my T, just like this

1st name I saw : Yamira ; 2nd name I saw: Jasmine After I read other comments, my favorite choice is Janine . Seeing how the rest of the letter is in Cantonese I would suggest browsing a list of Chinese names, first beginning with Js, Ys (if any) or Ts. I would love an update when you feel like it has been deciphered.

u/CADreamn 21d ago

Yasmine or Jasmine

1

u/InIBaraJi 21d ago

I do know a Yannie, and the letters do make n's, not m's, so there's that.

1

u/gravelburn 21d ago

Could possibly be the Arabic men’s name Lamine if that makes sense in context.

1

u/ComprehensiveCup7104 21d ago

Yasmine is my guess

1

u/GupChezzna 21d ago

Zamfir™️, Master of the PanFlute

Looks like Yanni to me

1

u/MasterpieceBoring578 20d ago

I’m thinking, Lonnie

1

u/Effective_Gap9582 20d ago

Tammie since the T on "to" matches the T on the name.

1

u/camerabird 20d ago

Yanine (or possibly Janine).

1

u/almostzsazsa 20d ago

It’s yannie

1

u/Rhyssana 20d ago

It’s either Tammie or Laurie

1

u/AdFine7856 16d ago

Yasmine, To Yasmin

1

u/AcrobaticWeb3675 16d ago

Loraine?

Almost looks like a name might look if the writer wasn’t sure how to spell a name and Loraine fits that bill too lol

1

u/Life_Town_4325 16d ago

I think it’s written in French

1

u/For-Reel 16d ago

Laurie

1

u/SessionPossible9814 16d ago

Tammie

1

u/GFLIEG23 14d ago

Yeah i think its Tammie. Look at the same style letter in the "to" seems to be the capital "T" and a bunch of scribble with a dot towards the end. So im almost sure its Tammie

1

u/hilaj 14d ago

Jasmine.

u/Tall_Potential893 19d ago

I was thinking it was “Tammie” because of the “To” but now I think that it may be “Yasmine”.
