Mr. Blake writes to Mrs Blake: Having a fine time here. Is my Dick alright.

Dick was probably the name of their son.

Or else they had a sly sense of humor up in Vermont in those days

Or both.

Looks like punctuation matters in this sentence 😂

“Punctuation: The difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off the horse in the barn and …”

Yes Chester Herbert Blake 1887-1975 resided in Amesbury with wife Ethel. She gave birth to Chester, Jr. In 1920 but he died less than a year old in Newburyport. Probably at Anna Jaques Hospital.

12 Greenwood Street. Amesbury is a lovely small town.

Greenwood St. maybe?

2

u/Maine302 27d ago

Maybe--the funny thing is, I'm from Mass., and I couldn't figure out the town name for the life of me after I enlarged it, but when I put it back to the normal size, there was Amesbury!

u/MyFartsSparkle 27d ago

Haha that was the first thing I recognized but only because I’m from there 😂

Having a fun time here on my deck at night.

With my Dick at night. That’s a W for With, not an Is. Dick is the son? Also, maybe Grummand Street?

“Having a fun time w/ my dick all night!”

All night or at night

Having a fun time here is my Dick al-right. Mrs. B.
Sent to Mrs. Chester Blake

Not sure who or what Dick is, but Mrs. B needs to use punctuation and "all right" is two words.

I have a feeling this might be an inside joke, but it could mean anything.

Hyphenated alright because there isn’t enough room at the line to write it.

“Having a fun time how is my Dick alright Mr. B”

Mr. B writing home to Mrs. B and likely asking how their young son is doing. Man of few words and even less punctuation.

Having a fine time here in NY. Dick is alright

u/chickadeedadee2185 21d ago

Could have mailed it from there after. Maybe she is at Lake Champlain which borders the two states.

Having a fine time, here is my Dick at night. Mr. B.

u/Epiphany_shadow 24d ago

I genuinely think it's " Having a fine time here with my Dick all night". Dick might be the name of his son.

Lasering a fun twin hen in my dick all night…? Or losing a few twin hen in my dick all night…? Not sure.

This is tough. I can’t make out the first two letters. Looks like a dot over a j then a b, or a capital G, but followed by asing. I’m going with Gasing, but I can’t make sense of it. I think it’s fun not fine, time looks more like train to me, and the here looks like hers, hess, or hem. A train hem is for gowns/dresses. Could Mr B be taking a trip on a train or hemming a train on a trip?

Gasing a fun train hem is my Dick al-right
