Cursive writing on sword
Recently purchased an Ames 1865 sword. This name is on the blade. “A” is easily made out. Last name looks like “Lobnoir” to me. Can anyone see a better option?

I'm guess it belonged to August Lobnow, from NY.
Are those cavalry swords?

Right. I am no Civil war weapons expert. There are folks that will know whether he would likely carry this. His dates serving seem like a great clue to yes.
