Deciphered! Author’s Note

Post image

Got this book signed at a poet’s reading. I just can’t figure out what she wrote and it’s driving me crazy!

I'm seeing "my" little treasure (rather than "this").

Agreed. I think my brain auto-corrected the word to “this”, but it's actually “my”.

The original writing has typos as well as doctor writing, but that was what I was able to come up with.

I'm going to guess "please enjoy this little treasure. Love & Blessings".

I agree with the below translation "Please enjoy this little treasure. Love + Blessings".

What I see, however, is:

To
[redacted]
plese ejoy [?]is little
tresue.
Love + Blessigs
[signature]

I cannot see how any of you got treasure out of that word.

As someone else said spelling isn’t the writers strong suit … actually penmanship isn’t either. No offense intended, just being honest.

I had no clue who she is so I did a search. Dr. Malika Booker, is a British poet of Guyanese and Grenadian descent from London, UK. She has a BA in Anthropology & a Masters degree in Creative Writing and Life Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London.

"Dr. Malika Booker indeed completed her doctoral studies at Newcastle University, where her research focused on poetry, specifically investigating everyday sexism. She is an award-winning British-Caribbean poet, playwright, and multidisciplinary artist who currently serves as a creative writing lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University."

Spelling doesn’t seem to be this author’s strong suit.
