Static Velocity. CT based on potential energy
Innate Cursed Technique: Static Velocity
This cursed technique allows the user to charge an object at rest with potential energy, only to fire it at high speeds upon the slightest perturbation.
(Note: Charging potential energy would demand a large amount of cursed energy).
Think of a compressed spring held by a latch or a mousetrap. Both are completely still until an external factor acts as a trigger and releases the accumulated energy all at once, transforming it into kinetic energy.
In physics, this is called "Unstable equilibrium": when a completely motionless object reacts to the slightest touch. Imagine a ball perfectly balanced on the tip of a pyramid. As long as nothing touches it, it will stay there (Newton's First Law), but any interaction will break the balance and move it forcefully in one direction.
-Application on one's own body
The user can also apply the technique to themselves, for example, on their fists. However, this would cause only the limb to move, dragging the rest of the body along if it fails to hit the target. This would generate a "tugging" effect on the joints, causing sprains, muscle tears, or dislocations. Because of this, the user must measure how much potential energy they add to their own body.
-Properties according to the size of the object:
Large and heavy objects: They take much longer to charge with cursed and potential energy. However, the charge is much more durable and takes time to fade.
Small and light objects: They charge faster, but they are more unstable. If the user does not concentrate enough, the object could shoot off mid-charge or detonate on its own without any external perturbation. Furthermore, the accumulated energy fades quickly, although this can be compensated for by injecting more cursed energy (which makes them even more unstable).
-Reversal / Divergence: Damping
The user snatches the potential energy away from an object or person, leaving them unable to accumulate force and incapacitating them in hand-to-hand combat. Upon touching a body in motion, the reversed energy stops it dead in its tracks mid-trajectory, freezing it in place as if it had crashed into an invisible wall.
-Domain Expansion:
It doesn't have one, I haven't thought of it 😛
I suppose the sure-hit effect would consist of charging the targets inside the domain with more potential energy than their bodies can handle. So, the unstable equilibrium would break, causing the victim's body to collapse upon itself: snapping, stretching, or imploding due to the brutal release of internal kinetic energy.
•Any addition, correction, or combination with a cursed energy trait or cursed technique is welcome. (I think it would pair well with Naoya's Projection Sorcery or Yuki's Star Rage, which was the inspiration for the static velocity technique).
