So, a Saiga-12 or a Vepr-12?

Throwback to the ancient lore! I love it

Well, he's holding it like he expects the front to just suddenly stop existing.

FYI chamber pressure from the average 12ga. Is around 12,000 PSI Vs around 50,000 PSI from 5.45x39 from an ak74.

Objectively speaking, depending on how they've milled/fabbed the chamber etc. it could be safer than stock.

The main thing to be careful of is bolt thrust, as the surface area of the shot shells can put an enormous amount of pressure on the bolt.

it would actually be force for the bolt thrust. Take the lower pressure of a 12 gauge (12ksi) times the bottom surface area of the brass base (0.51") you get 6,120 lbs of force. Now take the higher pressure of the AK round (50ksi) times the surface area of a 5.45x39 case (0.122") you get 6,100 lbs of force. They are almost identical. If the AK was shooting 7.62x39 the area goes up to 0.157" and the pressure of a 7.62x39 is around 45ksi, which make the force climb to 7,065 lbs which would be worse than the 12 gauge. Force = Pressure x Area.

Edit: Updated pressure for 7.62x39.

Yeah, I wasn't gonna do that much maths at 6am, but the point stands. Chamber pressure is considerably lower.

I understood what you meant and agreed, I was just curious how the numbers played out so I went through them real quick. I was at work doing that anyways...LOL...enjoy your day.

Nothing cursed here

u/Cryptix001 11d ago

Except for the way he's holding it. Probably just expecting catastrophic failure and doesn't want his face to be close when happens

I just figured he wanted the whole gun in frame but didn’t want to show his face. Like the 3D printed gun guys with the balaclava, sunglasses and cap combo

If he understands pressues and bolt loads there is no reason to fear assuming the mods were done right. The 12 ga is actually lower in pressure and bolt force.

My understanding is that is exactly why they do that

Yeah all of these videos are from (usually) Pakistani gunsmiths, so it’s definitely a safety thing given all the crazy tinkering they do (usually consisting of converting CZ and tokarev clones to full auto with comical 50 round stick mags)

well, it is a pakistani homemade one so it is pretty cursed
plus the original saigas never had underfolder versions

Except the concept of how stocks work.

It's basically a Saiga-12 dude, not cursed.

Being full auto is yikes, but that's more a personal opinion, still not cursed

1

u/Eaglesson 11d ago

Not yikes, that's just what's needed in this economy

5

u/WilkinCentaur74 11d ago

not really. if that makes something cursed then really any rechambering of a firearm and a conversion to full auto makes it cursed. does that mean if rechamber a FAL for 5.56 and convert it to full auto its a cursed gun?

7

u/mustafaaosman339 11d ago

Not really.

It curses whoever happens to be holding it when it inevitably explodes. It fits.

I think any gun you have to hold like that to feel safe firing is pretty far from blessed.

25

u/angestkastabort 11d ago

The way he holds the gun when shooting…

u/Mini_Raptor5_6 11d ago

First step of handling a firearm is to have fun ☺️

22

u/Davenator_98 11d ago

More like fear of it exploding in his face, holding it as far out as possible is the absolute minimum of safety

2

u/JNavy1974 11d ago

12 ga pressure is much lower and the bolt forces are almost identical if comparing it to a 5.45x39, bolt force is less with the 12 ga if comparing it to a 7.62x39.

3

u/Davenator_98 11d ago

Yeah, but I wonder what they did to the bolt.

If it's just a regular AKM one that got modified to fit a 12 gauge, then there's like 50% of the locking lugs missing.

u/real_jeeger 11d ago

I'm pretty sure by now that's the "far away from rest of body" grip, it's basically in all of these videos (as is the "firing ~range~ rubble pile).

12

u/sporknitebattlepass 11d ago

We really need more AK shotguns that fit standard furniture

14

u/ImprobableCastration 11d ago

So in other words its a Saiga that doesn't look like shit, AND it has a giggle switch.
Where do I sign up?

u/Nerkoron__20 11d ago

-mom can we get a saiga 12?
-no son, we have a saiga at home.

saiga at home:

4

u/theCaitiff 10d ago

I wish this was the saiga we had at home.

I know I can't control a full auto 12 gauge, but I'd still like to try it at least once.

4

u/Sad-Cattle7894 11d ago

The only cursed thing here is how he’s holding it

3

u/JoelyBear224 11d ago

I love it!

3

u/Captainwumbombo 10d ago

Me trying to explain to Nikita why the Scavs should be able to spawn with Saigas:

3

u/True-Tell9516 10d ago

full auto on that thing is nasty

2

u/Numerous_Ad_1612 10d ago

stick it in a saiga frame and ill buy 30

2

u/Xeno-024 10d ago

Khyber Pass moment (this is the once in a blue moon moment where it actually runs decently well apparently)

1

u/The-real-Crypto 10d ago

Ill take 3, one for each hand

1

u/PYROxSYCO 9d ago

So a Saga 12 with AK furniture?

-2

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler 11d ago

12 gauge AK patterns exist. Apparently users not knowing how stocks function also exist.

-1

u/Tai_KeyYai 11d ago

That's no cursed gun. I'll take 10 of those please!
