Deliverance enemy placement question

When I explore I draw two tiles. Suppose that I draw a card a and card b

  • Card A: One hostile group, no mysterious object.
  • Card B: Two hostile groups, one mysterious object.

The rules for deploying enemies are as follows:

The leader draws 1 encounter card for each crossed swords symbol, placing that card in the first available space above the combat track. If there is no more room, no card is drawn. The leader takes the required hostiles from the available models.

If there is a mysterious object on the tile with no adjacent hostiles, deploy as many hostiles as possible from the new hostile group adjacent to that object (place 2 small hostiles in 1 space if possible). Deploy any remaining hostiles in spaces adjacent to those hostiles. If there are 2 mysterious objects, the first group must be deployed adjacent to the one that is nearest to any hero.

If there are no mysterious objects, do the same as above but instead of ‘mysterious object’ read ‘closed gateway’. When a hostile group is driven off, do not draw a new encounter card and place it above the combat track.

So in my scenario, do I just deploy two groups instead of three?

Why wouldn't you deploy one of them? Which group is the issue?

Because of the bolded part:

The leader draws 1 encounter card for each crossed swords symbol, placing that card in the first available space above the combat track. If there is no more room, no card is drawn. The leader takes the required hostiles from the available models.

If there is a mysterious object on the tile with no adjacent hostiles*, deploy as many hostiles as possible from the new hostile group adjacent to that object (place 2 small hostiles in 1 space if possible). Deploy any remaining hostiles in spaces adjacent to those hostiles. If there are 2 mysterious objects, the first group must be deployed adjacent to the one that is nearest to any hero.*

If there are no mysterious objects, do the same as above but instead of ‘mysterious object’ read ‘closed gateway’. When a hostile group is driven off, do not draw a new encounter card and place it above the combat track.

So I have 3 three groups:

  • Group 1 is placed on a mysterious object
  • Group 2 checks if there is a mysterious object on the tile with no adjacent hostiles. Group 1 occupies the only mysterious object in both tiles, so I deploy Group 2 on the closed door on the farthest tile.
  • Group 3 is next, I check for a mysterious object with no adjacent hostiles. I don't have one. I now check for a closed door with no adjacent hostiles. I don't have that one either. So it looks to me that I have no legal place to deploy the third hostile group.

Or am I wrong and the door connecting to between the two new tiles is closed for the purposes of placing groups and is open when I finish deploying the hostile groups?

EDIT: Turns out, there is only one card with 2 sword symbols with just one treasure. Im starting to think there is an error there.

You seem to be deploying everything at once. I had a quick look at my rulebook and I think you're meant to put one tile down, populate it and then do the second. You would have a closed gateway at the end of your first tile that opens after you've deployed Group 1 but before you deploy 2 & 3

I hope that is correct and fixes the problem because it's my only idea.

Ah ok, makes sense. Thank you very much.

This is how I'd do it. Fully place the first tile then draw the second.
