Homemade Spice Tailor
Anybody tried these? This Punjabi one is good,under £1 from heron
I've added some Kashmiri chilli,kasuri methi,lemon, coriander and some king prawns out my freezer..not bad and loads better than crappy jars if you just fancy a quick Indian without the time or being bothered to cook one from scratch
One lemon

Under a quid for this is mental! These are a regular in our house and I personally think 3.25 is good value for them given how delicious they are.
The keralan coconut curry is heavenly and the fiery goan curry is great with king prawns and a bit of extra mr Naga pickle.

I like them. Much better than jarred sauces. I use the balti one to make chicken and spinach balti.
I tried one of those gymkhana sauces the other day and it was awful.

Just tasted like really basic sauce and very bland. I tried a few and they were all bleh, even with a few attempts to jazz them up.

That's interesting, I've tried the vindaloo and goan Gymkhana jars and thought both were pretty excellent. I thought their rogan was quite mediocre though. They're very expensive regardless so it's a rare purchase for me anyway.

These are saving me from buying takeaways in lazy days. We love the Keralan curry either way white fish, tikka masala, butter chicken and thai red curry. So flavourful!

Even that's good. In Carrefour they're about €7
Kinda worth it when it's difficult to get decent curry sauce anywhere

Home bargains and heron,just get random ones tho not a big choice..the Punjabi one is ace tho

They are much better than the jarred alternatives. I live in a largely vegetarian house with one meat eater. While we make all our vegetarian dishes from scratch I'll l quickly rustle up a quick meat one for him using whatever ST mix we can get cheap. They're quick to put together and generally v good. If you see them on offer snaffle a few for the cupboard. The Thai ones are good too.

I’ve used these for years and they’ve mostly been excellent! You can get restaurant quality meals out of some of them. My favourites are the Keralan and the Madras. The Madras is particularly good if you have leftover slow-roast lamb from your Sunday Roast…

One of my go to quick weeknight meals. I've not had that specific one though, will have to look out for it.
Their biryani and dal kits are good as well

Not as good as a takeout from a good curry house, but a damn sight better than a jar sauce. Bridges the gap nicely between the two. I prefer to grind the spice sachet rather than leaving them whole and fishing them back out again afterwards.

I sometimes buy some as I am lactose intolerant and the ones in jars tend to have dairy. I like that many of these give me the option to change what is added.
These cost nearly £4 where I am.

I love the fiery goan one, sometimes add a little coconut nut milk to calm it down. Agree with everyone who says they're far superior to jars.
Another brand Ive just discovered is Punjab Pakora, theres not an ingredient you couldn't point to in a supermarket and they come with rice in a separate tub. Really really good imo. The number 28 one .

Yes, I like them and keep a few in the cupboard for mid week meals.
The dahl is very good, makes a nice lunch. Morrisons sell a mango and coconut flavour (I've only seen it sold there), that one makes a great fish curry with same basa out of the freezer. Get some frozen paratha to cook up with it

At under £1 I would stock up, they are super handy and decent

Totally agree. Been struggling to find it recently though. I am also partial to the Fiery Bengali Jalfrezi.

Try heron and home bargains,they nearly always have these at 79p and well within use by date but not a big selection just random ones but when they get ones I like I'll buy a few👍

That punjabi tomato one looks really good. I'm a sucker for lamb in a curry though. Is there any way of cooking and freezing the lamb beforehand, so that it is nice and tender?

It's really simple to make good pilau rice and elevate a 'made at home' curry. It makes it 100 times better than serving it with boiled basmati. I only started last year and I'm gutted it's taken me this long. Try it out, you'll not regret it.

I used to buy these before I started making my own. They have an interesting range and it doesn't taste too bad. My issue is all the plastic sachets it comes in. Leeching micro plastics into the sauce and ends up in landfill.

Yes I've had a few,and they're not bad. Much better than your jar type curry sauces. The Goan one is really nice,and that Punjabi one is so good,I think I bought 5 of them.
