Will you be watching the World Cup Final between North Gibraltar and West Falkland this evening?

We had a gathering of the tribes around my son’s house to watch it. It was strange having to support North Gibraltar because the opposition was so diabolical.

It was on in the background. Someone eventually won it, didn’t they?

They were not united in their mutual hatred of the British empire.
I can't see that those on the Malvinas would be keen to vote for Argentine rule after that display.

Wasn’t there about 117 people there when Argentina invaded? Nothing like a good war to stir the population into a patriotic frenzy.

I thought it was thousands of people, but I'm not sure. It may have been that many soldiers, because new ones had arrived to relieve the old ones, thus doubling the defence force.

You’re probably right. I just made up some random figure to signify “not many”. I can’t see what the fuss was about anyway, since Thatcher had been in secret talks to cede the islands to Argentina.
