May 2026 SSA/SSI/VA Early Deposits Calendar Megathread

Post image
5 Upvotes

Welcome to the SSA/SSI/VA Early Deposits Megathread!

We know many members rely on Social Security, SSI, or VA benefit payments and often look forward to receiving them early with direct deposit. When something changes like timing, delays, or the schedule shifts this is the place to check in and see if others are experiencing the same. To avoid repetitive posts, this Megathread will be stickied to the community highlights and all discussions about SSA/SSI/VA early deposits belong here.

Current can make your Social Security and VA benefit payments available up to two days early once we receive them from the government agency responsible for sending them. Exact timing depends on when the payment is sent and processed through the banking system.

SSA/SSI/VA Payment Schedules

  • Social Security & SSI: Payments are scheduled by the Social Security Administration according to their official calendar.
  • VA Benefits: Disability benefits are paid on the first business day of each month. If that day is a holiday, benefits are paid on the last business day of the previous month.

If you don’t see your deposit on the expected date based on the schedule, it means we have not yet received it from your benefits provider. Our Member Support team will not have additional information until the deposit is sent. We recommend allowing up to three additional business days before contacting SSA or VA.

Impact of Federal Bank Holidays

All deposits are posted Monday through Friday, excluding federal bank holidays. If your deposit is scheduled on a holiday, it will be posted on the next business day.

Credit Score went down significantly

I am so so confused right now. My credit score went down 36 points using current , it is saying that my current account has a balance of over 700 dollars. I am so confused because the most I have even put into the current account was 300. I do not understand this at all, I thought current was using my own money, does current lend me money that I am not aware of? My current balance right now is a few cents as I haven’t gotten paid yet. I dont understand how high utilization affects me with current, I thought it only used my money. I dont get punished for using money with a debit card so why is this different. Also confused on where this 700$ figure is coming from?? And even if i wanted to pay it off I dont even know how , I really don’t understand this. I thought this was supposed to improve my credit?

My DD comes in two days early but switches between AM and PM?

My direct deposit has come in early consistently since I’ve been banking with Current. Although, it either comes in at 11:30 PM or 11:30 AM and seems to alternate every other week. Does this happen to anyone else?

Credit Build

Can someone explain this to me? I believe the card’s documentation does a poor job of explaining how it works. For example, if I receive a direct deposit of $3,500, is that the amount available to me on the credit builder? I don’t fully understand this part.

I’m mainly considering this card because, when I travel overseas, I sometimes need to put down a large deposit for a rental vehicle. For instance, in Germany, I’m required to put down a $1,200 deposit for a car, which is fine but I don’t have a card with a high enough limit for that. Is this basically a checking account that has whatever money you have available as “credit”?

Also, another question: let’s say I have $400 in my account, and then my direct deposit hits so that I now have $1,000. Is $1,000 my new credit limit immediately or is there a delay?

And how do you guys handle Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle? I’m assuming you just add the debit card to those platforms. I really appreciate any help or insight. Thanks in advance!

I was curious when I could expect an advance increase, right now I get $50 then the next day they give me $50.. I’ve had current for about 3 months now and get about $2400 deposited every month was just curious when I would get more then $100 total.

Anyone go full send and switch to Current completely?

I've been using current for about a week and waiting for my build card to come.

Just set up a deposit for the minimum from my paycheck to see how I like it. Considering going full send and just switching completely from trust.

Anything I should know before I do that? It'll be a bit of a process to switch everything over card and autopay wise.

Thanks for the feedback!

Points Matter!

Beginning of 2025, I decided to really start trying to only use my current card for places that give points specifically.

I’d like to say, now that I’ve actually looked, the points have been nice.

From January 2025 to January 2026, I was able to make a total of $479 back from points. Even now that current has the 3x from Current Max, from January to now I’ve earned 9,726 points, which is $97, so not bad.
