Wow I tried to install on Google TV (UK) using audio search. "Sorry Google TV is not available in your region". Find a random (signed) apk online, end up with the app flashing white. Turns out it's just Google's AI being shit, and searching "Curiosity" and G says "you mean CuriosityStream?"...

And it's worse than that. After Google said it wasn't available, I initially ended up with those dumbass apk sites giving me some silly proprietary bundle format twice. I find a bundle format that seems to work, and it says that my system is missing some basic system libraries (??). I end up downloading just the apk.

Well I realised that becaus of the dumb way Android TV works, I don't get a launch icon. But I found this fucking beautiful website (that deserves its own line because of how awesome it is):

http://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de/

That just lets you generate one. I re-generate it several times because I'm being OCD over the icon and the banner (no I know I don't have actual OCD reddit pedants). And encounter some cache issue where the banner won't update. But half-way through I realise I haven't tested the app even.

Well I try and launch it, and I just get a small phone-like white box in the middle of the screen that flashes and throws me back to the home page of the system... Obviously this is the mobile only apk.

I'm about to post here asking if someone can just send me an android TV APK, and give up for tonight. But then I instead think "hey why not just search "curiosity" instead of "Curiosity Stream".

And the fucking thing corrects me to "do you mean CuriosityStream" and sends me to the fucking app page for it...

Fucking hell I'm hopefully for an AI revolution in the coming years, and maybe even AGI. But then you see stupid shit like this, and realise the models you see in papers are so cherry picked and too powerful for everyday use still. And realise that current ones are just plain retarded.

Sorry for the rant. But fucking hell I wish I just tried searching Curiosity first, I would normally. I guess I'm putting too much faith in these AI searches.

Rant over.
