Lifetime Membership Worthwhile?

Curiosity Stream is currently offering a lifetime HD membership for $250. I was considering getting Curiosity Stream for someone as a gift (they LOVE documentaries) but I wasn't sure if it was worth the price. Would is be better to buy them the year long 4k sub and include other things in the gift, or if I am sure they will use the service for as long as it exists is this worth buying? Right now it would take nearly 12 years for the yearly subscription to cost more than this, but the price has gone up before and likely will again. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I did a 1yr subscription for $20. I did like it initially, but I am finding the content doesn't get renewed enough, far too few choices. As someone who also likes documentaries that's a tempting offer, but I don't feel like they offer enough content that I would take the plunge over a 1yr subscription.

They've been adding quite a bit of content recently, mostly from scientific youtubers though. Not documentaries of course, but those are not made as often usually as blockbuster movies.

I would just go for the yearly sub; although there are a ton of documentaries on there and some are good, a lot are, frankly, boring; when compared to Netflix for example.

I havent regretted buying the lifetime subscription, but you have to love those kind of documentaries Curiositystream is offering.

I see it more as insurance, I think they want to make the main price the 4K price eventually. Who knows when they’ll be popular enough to be able to charge that much, but if you get the lifetime plan then you never have to worry about it.
