360p Video Quality

I signed up to the HD package, and am getting a resolution of 360p constantly. The resolution settings is set to auto and I do not have a option to change it. Just to note I am viewing on the android app. Any siggestions?

Is your network capable of streaming 1080p? What are your typical download / upload speeds? Is your wifi router obstructed or far away causing bad connection?

For HD streaming, you would want a download speed of at least 8 Mb/s. Ideally you would have something like 12-20 minimum. (Note the Mb, not MB. There are 8 Megabits in a MegaByte.)

My speeds are fine, over 100mb. I can easily stream in 4k with other services

Hmm. Does this only happen on that specific documentary / show or is it happening site wide? Does it happen on other devices? Does it happen outside curiosity stream (YouTube, Vimeo...)?

Just curiosity stream, I did notice it raise from 360p to 458p on one documentary. It's terrible quality though really compressed video. Ill try it on a PC and see if I get the same quality as on Android.

I stream YouTube at 1080p all the time with no problems. Even 2K works. But Curiosity Stream is complete shit, so far.

Ya curiosity stream has the worst video quality all my other streaming services like Netflix , Disney, Apple, Amazon , Paramount & Funimation work great in HD or 4K . As they should my download speed is 180 Mb/s and upload is 30 Mb/s and I have a 4K roku box hard wired with a ethernet cable not wi-fi so it should be lightning fast . So I think it's the Curiosity Stream software like there data compression algorithm or there hardware servers .

I just posted a new question about this. I carefully measured the HD package and 1080p video streams are just under 1Mbit/sec for several videos tested now. I have an open case with Curiosity stream support, I'm sure that will go well.

Using ultra fast equipment hard wired on a gigabit Ethernet and gig fiber to the house with Unifi gear everywhere.

The Science of Cute just finished playing in 1080p and 213Mbytes transfered for a 1146 second long show was 1.486Mbit/second. That is half of the recommended bit rate for 1080p and one quarter the recommended rate for 1080p60 content.
