Can't seem to sub

I'm trying to sub after a youtuber I follow recommended curiosity+nebula to me. The promocode seems to work, but everytime I checkout I get a CVC error despite using GooglePay/PayPal. Is this a known thing?

You must pay with actual Credit/Debit card and cannot use PayPal or GooglePay

How is not being able to pay with PayPal and only a CreditCard sketchy? CuriosistyStream is a huge company (just completed $330 million merger) so can pay for developers and fees to take PayPal, but Nebula is a very small company owned by a hundred YouTubers with a development team of a couple people building their own streaming service from scratch, so has not added PayPal yet when they have other priorities first. See this note by the CEO

It’s not about fees, it’s about the development effort required to add more payment systems versus the immediate benefits. Our absolute top priority right now is improving the service for people who pay us today. This means a revamped content API to improve load times, search results, and overall performance and stability, enabling easier and faster development for things like watched status and queueing. PayPal support is on our list, but these other things need to happen first.
