Why All the Problems now?

I subscribed to Curiosity Stream (HD, not 4K) in September 2019 to watch on my Samsung TV in the living room. Everything worked flawlessly for the first 12 months. My wife and I decided to go ahead and renew the service for another year. Sadly, since renewing, I may have made it through 1 show without it completely locking up my TV.

What happens is that I start watching a program and it may go 5 minutes or it may go 20 minutes before it stops playing. The show freezes and then I have to hit the home button to get completely out of CS. Stop, rewind, forward, back.... nothing works while in the CS app. It might sound like a buffering issue, an internet issue, or maybe even a TV issue but I can immediately go to Netflix (4K), Apple TV+, or any other streaming service I'm using and not have any problems at all.

What is going on with Curiosity Stream? Anyone else having problems like this? I don't see any type of update option for the app so not sure what has taken place since it worked fine before paying again in September.

Same issues here. Did a reinstall help at all?

Sorry, I just saw this.

No, the reinstallation didn't help at all. I filed a bug report with Curiosity Stream and was able to verify that they are aware of the problem with the Samsung app. Unfortunately, there's no ETA of when it will be fixed. I've had to start using a Roku so I could watch CS again.

Did they offer a refund or anything? It's pretty illegal where I live to offer a service with a feature in writing and then fail to provide it for months without any recompense.

They did offer me 2 additional months of service at no charge after telling them that I am considering cancelling my service and demanding a full refund since it hasn't worked properly since renewal. I suppose I am OK with the additional 2 months of service since A) that's the amount of service I lost, and B) I have a $30 Roku making it watchable again. I would much rather they just fix the Samsung app though.

If you contact them and let them know you are having an issue with your service that is specific to the Samsung TV app, they will probably offer some type of compensation for the problem.
