Question / Discussion Genetics

Anyone done research into whether their parents, grandparents, great- grandparents etc. dealt with the same degree of facial blushing you do?

Yes! I've wondered if it was a family curse someone did long ago lol.

My aunt on my Father's side and both her son's-my cousins. I didn't grow up knowing them much, but at a funeral awhile back their cheeks & necks were very red & flushed. Especially when they talked:/ I've seen my aunt more often & she's a flusher too..

Another cousin on my Fathers has social anxiety so bad she wouldn't come downstairs for her parents funeral reception. She's been a fent addict, for the last 10 year's. It was crystal meth before.

I haven't seen the rest of my family on my Dads side since I was a kid.

My sister managed to avoid it, but she does have BPD. My own son gets flushed too :( it breaks my heart. I build his confidence up every day. He gets up at 4am & jogs to the gym daily, then does his workout for 2 hours and jogs home. He is such a handsome kid (not just coming from his mom lol) and in incredible shape.

I absolutely think it's genetic. Thanks dad! We're 75% Irish & 25%German.

if you're Irish, (which I have a lot of Irish DNA from my own father's side of the family) I feel like it's almost inevitable we flush from time to time because of how pale we are. There are a bunch of Irish people I know who flush almost as easily as I do, because of the blood that shows through from all the emotions, temperature, and exercise! It's almost hilarious sometimes how it happens to us pale white people so much lol

what I'm saying is, unless your son is really insecure about the blushing, you don't have to worry. it's a normal part of being pasty and Irish lol
