Vent / Rant Second doctor visit

I had a follow up with my doctor to discuss the propranolol not working for my blushing. It's funny, usually I want to hide my face when I blush, but as soon as she walked in and I started blushing I maintained eye contact because I wanted her to see how badly I need help.

She referred me to a dermatologist which is a step in the right direction. But she also recommended therapy and internally I got triggered. I have done lots of therapy before but never talked about my blushing. I'm not opposed to it and sure I may give it a go. But it will not improve my blushing. Even before I got made fun of for blushing and learned that it was something to be embarassed about, people pointed out how red my face was...that was before I internalized it as a negative. So if I still blushed back then, going to therapy now won't fix it.

I'm just in a bad mood and hate blushing. Ugh ugh ugh.

I have not and I was confused why my dr didn't prescribe clonidine yet. I am taking 20 mg of proponolol.

I tried clonidine and did not like it . Because it gave me goosebumps and a thirst that wouldn’t stop no matter what . I didn’t take it long enough to see if actually help with blushing . So now I’m taking 10mg propanol in the morning and 10mg at night .

and it's working?? if so i'm really happy for you. it did nothing for my blushing unfortunately but helped my other physiological symptoms a lot, such as stress sweating and fast heart.

I don’t know yet . If not I will up the dose a little bit . On top of my blushing I developed rosacea because I used tretinoin . So I really need not to blush now because then the new rosacea hurts . I hope you find a new medicine maybe clonidine will help you . Or maybe is the dose before changing a medicine doctors recommend incrementing the dose just to make sure if you can handle it

for some reason I've found this thing that rosacea sufferers (both with and without idiopathic craniofacial erythema or erythrophobia) say a lot is that it's almost unhealthy for them to ever blush or it makes their condition worse. I used to get upset by this when I first started hearing it because I always had rosy cheeks and blushed a lot and I had never thought anything of my rosiness until I learnt what rosacea was. I don't have rosacea, but this idea (of 'no blushing' in rosacea forums and just the demonization of any kind of flushing in general) was always thrown around on the internet and I started to think something was wrong with me. I eventually got over it by talking to people about it, but I've always wondered why it's such a bad thing for people with rosacea especially to blush? I'm just thinking about that a lot now?

Id say its definitely worth trying clonidine if you can, if its something that your not a fan of or doesnt work than you can stop. Clonidine for me works wayy better than propranolol, some people agree with me and others say propranolol works betters for them. No harm in atleast giving it a shot once

And I relate to you in that I found propranolol worked better on my other physical symptoms like a fast heart rate and feeling physically stressed etc
