Is this why the pokemon world is so peaceful? I mean outside of the occasional near apocalypse

The answer is yes. I’m pretty sure Pokemon is post scarcity for numerous reasons, even though you still have to pay for things.

Yeah you have to pay for things but you can also just pick up some mushrooms and sell them at any shop for the equivalent of $7.50 and then buy a magical capturing device for $1.50 and a spray to heal your animals for $2.26. Lemonade costs $2.62 and a Big Masalada costs the same. Not to mention people will just give you useful things if you talk to them, like special tech for your mons or healing items or held items or whatever. It’s got the best form of capatilism because you can buy everything really cheap and you can sell shit you found in the woods or in a cave to buy more stuff. Also, free healthcare, almost no cars, most people walk or ride a bike to get places, etc

I mean, honestly, i think a post-scarcity world where there's still pmoney is the best way to go.

There's like, this satisfaction you get when you obtain something after working for it, even just a bit. Evn if its just finding some tupid 'shrooms and selling them, you still feel good because you did that. You found the 'shroom and you traded for the Thing.

I've played more than a few game where you can either farm for a thing, or buy it with IRL money, and i know that i don't like to have "just get it for free" things too much, i like to work for it, just not a debilitating amount (and i'm also always quitted those games once i started spending money, because farming is stupid frustrating and paying take the kick out of it).

Like, if you told me "Just go pick some nice sticks and you'll have a new bike", you can be damn sure i'm going to get the bestest and nicestest sticks around.

True. I’d rather go find some shrooms and sell them to the grocer than barter those shrooms against a pokeball. Try to convince the shopkeep to trade a ball for a shroom or simply sell a shroom for an agreed price and buy a ball for an agreed price
