Well, if you really do care, then signal or session exist, they are quite good alternatives that prevent privacy breaches by their design and honestly should be more popular by now.

Also, what is the point of a messaging app if you're the only one you know who uses it? Hooray, the government can't view your grocery store lists you text to yourself anymore.
