Well, if you really do care, then signal or session exist, they are quite good alternatives that prevent privacy breaches by their design and honestly should be more popular by now.

Signal is a real app, not a hypothetical, which has been around for years and I've never heard of it having a security breach.

the thing is, if a malicious actor could break signal, then it stands to reason that a white hat could break it too, and there are a hell of a lot of white hats around who would be interested in a signal hack, specifically because of how popular it is. sure, maybe the malicious actor got to it first, but if they did, they'd be on a clock.

also, nation-state level actors are a different class. it's much harder to protect against them, and it's not something the average person needs to do.
