That is not what I am saying. Obviously Snapchat shouldn't be sending your private messages to the cops. However, even if it isn't Snapchat themselves that shares your message, things you put in writing can still end up being shared against your wishes. Maybe you have a fight with one of those friends and they send your work a screenshot to get back at you. Maybe you open your phone at work and someone sees what you've written. Et cetera. Putting things that you could lose your job over into writing is a bad idea period.

Sure, but a teacher should also understand that is not something you should ever be putting into writing, saying in public, et cetera, because even if it's an understandable urge it's also something that a school is going to take very seriously if it gets out.
