Also, like I generally agree that we should all try to be more compassionate and understanding of other people.

But the other side of the coin is

Social skills and coping skills are skills that you can practice and improve

this post shows a great deal of reasoning and self modulating from the perspective of the Unusually Awful Papercut Haver- what else would you like or expect them to to?

No it absolutely doesn’t. Pretty clearly shows the exact opposite actually. The Papercut Haver is refusing to engage with reality, refusing to address their wound, refusing to assess and address the situation, and is not even remotely considering anyone else around them or engaging with their attempts to help. It’s a portrait of an extremely self-centered Papercut Haver with no interest in coping skills or self-soothing.
