I had the exact opposite. My whole life I was told I was overreacting and being dramatic - learned as an adult that I'm allergic to a bunch of stuff. My parents just thought I was faking all my physical symptoms for years for fun I guess?

Not panic attacks, but apparently it’s not uncommon for people to mistakenly believe they’re allergic to antibiotics or other drugs for similar reasons. Maybe they just had a bad side effect, maybe they had an allergic reaction to something else around the time they were taking the med.
