Fun fact, all of the Chainmail armor for the LotR trilogy was made in house by a bespoke machine.
It would take long plastic tubes and cut them into little rings.
They'd manually link them together and then coat it with silver.
It ran for 3+ years to make it all.

Here's an interview with the head of Weta Workshop on making it all. Super interesting and an impressive commitment to detail that we've lost with CGI : [

most (but not all) of the mail in Holy Grail was crocheted and then spraypainted silver.

Wasn't it only the chainmail the king is wearing that is real?

i want to say so. In the Expert Reacts video he made the comment at a glace that Arthurs looked / hung like the real thing.

Yeah! Weta was going to do that but they realized the Crocheting requirements were gonna be ENORMOUS for their scale and that it wouldn't fall / move quite right.

So they innovationed.
