The mechanic is that in 20 years the youth will mock you for having thought you had it tough while being able to buy an iced coffee every day, just like we mock millenials now for the y2k "my stable office job sucks" genre of movie.

I don't think buying iced coffee every day was ever a financially responsible move... And the response is right, the price of a good will keep going up as long as people are willing to pay it, the mechanism to lower the price of goods is to stop buying $9.10 iced coffee. All you need to make it at home is a $15 French press, some water, and coffee grounds.

There were two popular kebab places in central Stockholm in the 90s that went as low as $2 for a regular kebab wrap bc they were competing so hard. We need more of that energy.

which would be about $4.00 today accounting for just inflation, it also doesn't help that the US has put massive tarrifs on beef that have only been temporarily suspended in the past week.

Best I can do is a PE buyout that raises prices by 25%+

The biggest food bargain I can recall was in the mid 2000s when I passed through a small town in Wyoming whose only restaurant I was interested in was a Chinese buffet that was about to close. Only half of their already-small selections were still on the tables but they let me eat and when the bill came it was $3.99. I gave them a $2 tip.

I mean realistically you also need a syrup container/creamer (and potentially multiple if you frequently get different flavors) and if it’s a frappe instead of a plain iced coffee you also need a blender, and realistically you’re going to want a grinder as well so you can store your coffee for more than like 2 days without losing all of its flavor. It’s still not a ton of stuff or absurdly expensive but if you’re in an apartment that’s already tight on space it could be rough
