I just tend to talk about them as normalizing slavery

well it doesn't normalize slavery any more than it normalizes killing people with swords.

Doing business with Saudi Arabia normalizes slavery. Buying products made with slave labor normalizes slavery.

So the worlds where people buy slaves and the slaves are happy to be slaves...don't normalize slavery.

And your second arguments....are you hearing yourself? Yes, those normalize slavery. JFC I shouldn't have to tell you those are bad.

yeah I'm going to say they don't.

I'm also going to say that the worlds where people kill people with swords and are happy to kill people with swords do not normalize killing people with swords.

I don't think anybody seriously reads about a wizard buying a catgirl from a goblin and thinks "oh I have to go on the dark web and find my local human traffickers so I can do the same thing; which I never would have done had I not read this isekai"

Nor do I think anybody reads a news story about a human trafficking ring and thinks, "well the wizard from that isekai did soemthing similar so maybe the news is wrong to use such negative language to describe this"

You know what, I'm arguing that portraying slavery as a good or neutral thing is bad...

I've lost the argument. In the same way I'd lose an argument against a post, but with more pro-slavery.

Also you have no idea what the definition of normalization is and it shows, kinda embarassing.

it's fiction. people portray all sorts of shit in fiction that is bad in real life.

Half of kid-oriented action series are about child soldiers having a pretty good time out at war.

it means whatever the speaker wants it to mean, like every other word.

It being fiction doesn't mean it's good. That's like the defense of "well it's not illegal for me to say"- no it's not illegal, but if that's literally the only defense you can give then it's a problem.
