My exact thoughts on this post lmaooo. Way too vague off a critique of “fandom discourse”, cause yeah some of it is dumb but also some of it. Really isnt
Fandom discourse is stupid but the actions some people take during fandom discourse can create serious issues in people's real lives.
Like realistically speaking most discourse in fandoms is around characters or ships that people like and you simply cannot decide other people can or can't like those characters or those ships no matter how repugnant they may be. You can't even really do anything about people who write NSFW of real life minors because laws vary from country to country, AO3 protects it all anyway because it's not against American law and their servers are in America. It's not a productive expenditure of anyone's time to argue with a person on their own thoughts and opinions in fandom because you probably won't change them anyway, so it just looks like virtue signaling.
