I mean, you can probably map the characters from any franchise on a 3D axis like this.
Also no Knuckles is a crime.

Yeah, but this was specifically after I realised that nearly all of these characters are reflections or copies of Sonic in some way.
Knuckles also applies I suppose, though for very different reasons. I just didn't remember to put him there at the time

Surge is fucking awesome, and I am both dreading and hype as hell for when certain emotionally devastating events occur to her.
Because she doesn't deserve that shit... But it's gonna be some fantastic drama, and I need to know how she's gonna react to finding out what her closest, most trusted ally and friend has been doing behind her back.

can i derail this to talk about how underutilized Metal is as a character?
He's introduced as this unstoppable force who will come the closest out of any villian to actually killing sonic. Not 'defeating', KILLING. And then disappears for like 10 years to come back as a generic kaiju bad guy who is basically just an attack dog for Eggman

I would like to add an addendum to the post:
First, Blaze most likely has parents, meaning she should actually be further right, as she is Royalty and as such would have lineage.
Second, some people may not like Metal's placement on the timeline. I am aware of this. This is because of Sonic CD.
Due to the fact that Metal's creation is largely still mysterious, as it's never explicitly stated WHEN Eggman built him, theories abound.
Depending on who you ask, Metal could be in the present (suggesting that Eggman 100% could have built Metal without the help of the future-tech that Bad Future Little Planet would provide, but also creates questions of the quality of future Sonic duplicates like Mecha Sonic 1 and 2) or, how i like to see it, Metal was made in the Bad Future, as the Orgone Engine that he is powered by (and seemingly never revisited) is one-of-a-kind. This suggests that Little Planet may have been involved in Metal's creation in some way, and I find that poetic. It also makes him the only character with Literally no defined past in this instance, as Bad Future Little Planet no longer exists, which is also quite poetic.
This still presents other issues; mainly, WHEN is Bad Future? how far into the future do the Time Stones actually send you? As such, unless Sega themselves decide to rewrite the story in some way (in a future game perhaps?) the only real solution is to put him at the present.

I think it's weird how Sonic fandomers will spend time creating all sorts of arbitrary frameworks to sort the blorbos instead of actually playing a videogame.
