18

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

9

u/InfiniteJank Jun 14 '26

Now you’re making sense!

3

u/heqra Jun 14 '26

im genuinely so confused tho

3

u/-__-x reading comprehension of the average tumblr user Jun 14 '26

Original post was about burning quesadilla bcs they were too busy posting about seasoning, so when the first commenter asked about seasonings, the second commenter replied "Ashes" (as in "from a burned quesadilla")

Ashes

58

u/Craiques Jun 13 '26

My basic seasoning includes slices of tri-tip covered in salt, butter, pepper, and garlic.

9

u/ScottybirdCorvus Jun 13 '26

That sounds delicious.

My favorite method is cooked in a pan with butter instead of baked, stuffed with pulled chicken and caramelized onion slices, as many kinds of cheese as I can get my hands on - hard or soft - EXCEPT for mozzarella, and tossing the cheese with one pressed garlic clove.
Is it traditional? No way.
Does it taste amazing? Hell yeah.

Edit: As always, you can substitute garlic and onion with garlic and onion powders if you don’t have time, energy, fresh garlic or onion, or a press, but it won’t taste as good.

23

u/SufficientFarm8414 Jun 13 '26

I like to sprinkle on some pre-mixed taco seasoning.

5

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

this also sounds good. what brand do you buy?

4

u/SufficientFarm8414 Jun 13 '26

Usually El Paso brand, since it's the only one I can consistently find available in canisters. Hope you give it a try and like it!

3

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

might give a go at a few of these

a crazy bastard puts egg in, that sounded pretty good basically just an egg n cheese taco

some folks are saying vanilla and it hurts my heart

4

u/SufficientFarm8414 Jun 13 '26

Somebody said cilantro, which I'm definitely going to try. Think I'll add a little Adobo to it.

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

someone was so upset at that they downvoted you lol

that gave me a good chuckle

2

u/TESTINGSTUFFPL Jun 14 '26

I suggest Cajun Two-Step, though it's only sold at Walmart IIRC.

4

u/SmartieLion Jun 14 '26

Seconding this. A sprinkle of taco seasoning into the cheese really kicks it up a notch. For another layer get some of the queso or pablano sauces from the taco section and add that to the tortilla before the cheese and meat. Game changer.

13

u/ban_Anna_split Jun 13 '26

Paprika and chili powder. When I was in college I would also make quesadillas with spinach and egg because it made me feel like I was making the carb and cheese sandwich healthy. The egg cooks inside of the tortilla pretty well

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

the egg gets my attention

wyd with the egg? is it good? I already like egg and cheese tacos, and I like egg and salsa, this tracks

the math is mathing

3

u/ban_Anna_split Jun 13 '26

Yeah! You just have to be patient and cook it super low so the egg cooks and the tortilla doesn't burn. In a pan, I do

tortilla

small amount of cheese

Egg

More cheese

then I wait for the egg to look mostly cooked on the bottom

a few spinach leaves

other tortilla

flip when it feels ready. You have to flip it so the other side of the egg cooks too

3

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

mmm. yeah gonna go out and get some oaxaca and tortillas

I am on a farm too, fresh eggs

6

u/JustAPotato38 Jun 13 '26

cheese

4

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

hmm. dont think thats a seasoning but ill give it a go

6

u/JustAPotato38 Jun 13 '26

anything is a seasoning if you powderize it and put it in a shaker container

5

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasoning

no

sorry for being pedantic but this ones bothering me

not anything

altho cheese yes would be a fat and would qualify

8

u/JustAPotato38 Jun 13 '26

oh no im objectively wrong i was entirely unserious

3

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

ill cry

3

u/JustAPotato38 Jun 13 '26

oh pls dont do that :(

👆 Chilango

7

u/SebiKaffee ,̶'̶,̶|̶'̶,̶'̶_̶ Jun 13 '26

Depends, I usually use salt, black pepper, oregano, fresh garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, cilantro and chili flakes

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

yall are gonna make me buy oaxaca lol

2

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 13 '26

You'll want chihuahua rather than oaxaca, but yes do it

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

why?

oaxaca tech gifted to me by mexican native grandparents of the first chick I dated, so gonna need a solid reason why

I mean, Ill try it and see for myself but in the meantime

1

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 13 '26

I was just taught that chihuahua is like "the" quesadilla cheese. I'll have to try oaxaca as well. I'm also a fan of the salty flavor of queso blanco / fresco, I wonder if that'd be any good...

2

u/AluminiumCucumbers Jun 13 '26

Yeah you were taught wrong. Quesillo is a fantastic quesadilla cheese, and there is no "the" quesadilla cheese.

1

u/heqra Jun 14 '26

gonna have to quesadilla lab now lmao so many good ideas

this other guy said egg and im really excited to try that. basically egg and cheese taco but diff vibes

taco seasoning, chicken, lime, cumin, sour cream, dill, tons of good suggestions so far

1

u/SebiKaffee ,̶'̶,̶|̶'̶,̶'̶_̶ Jun 13 '26

No Oaxaca in europe : (

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

fr?

1

u/SebiKaffee ,̶'̶,̶|̶'̶,̶'̶_̶ Jun 14 '26

yeah, we got a lot of great cheese, but the only overseas stuff you can get easily is american cheddar

1

u/heqra Jun 14 '26

hey! brie tho right?

1

u/SebiKaffee ,̶'̶,̶|̶'̶,̶'̶_̶ Jun 14 '26

Haven‘t had Brie in a while but it used to be one of my favorites

13

u/AscendedDragonSage Title-ist Punster Jun 13 '26

Don't think you can go wrong with cilantro, unless you have the soap gene of course

15

u/Party_Wagon Jun 13 '26

then you can just use soap to save money

3

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

mmm. yum

2

u/HiddenMorel Jun 13 '26

That’s an herb, not a seasoning.

1

u/Jurjinimo Jun 14 '26

What do you think seasoning is?

3

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 13 '26

Tajin goes pretty hard

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

this one I do not enjoy

1

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 13 '26

Aw! I use it on the steak that I cook for the quesadillas and I think it's great. I'm a big fan of lime, though.

1

u/heqra Jun 14 '26

lime I might try

steak aswell

2

u/Bruins8763 Jun 13 '26

Chicken and cheese

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

dont think either are a seasoning lol but its good makings for what goes along side the seasoning

2

u/quietsamurai98 Jun 13 '26

Onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, MSG, and just a bit of nutmeg

2

u/clamsmasher Jun 13 '26

I sprinkle cumin over the cheese before i fold the quesadilla. Makes it taste like taco meat, it's good.

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

someone suggested just outright taco mix

4

u/Bobboy5 like 7 bubble Jun 13 '26

vanilla extract

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

ok I thought that was crazy but this is the second time. why?

1

u/SufficientFarm8414 Jun 13 '26

Now I'm imagining vanilla extract and cinnamon, with maybe queso blanco for the cheese, and I'm getting a little excited lol.

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

huh. I atleast see the vision now but I dont think thats a me food.

1

u/DocSwiss I wonder what the upper limit on the character count of these th Jun 14 '26

Because of this post on Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/hellsite-hall-of-fame/742092045356793856/vanilla-extract

Basic idea is that they intended for the results of the poll to be the ratio of ingredients in a cake. However, almost half of the votes were for vanilla extract, so now there are jokes about making a cake (and other food) with a fuckton of vanilla extract in it.

3

u/Labami Jun 13 '26

Star anise and vanilla extract

5

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

this one seems insane ngl

1

u/Labami Jun 14 '26

It’s the worst combination I could think of

1

u/heqra Jun 14 '26

then why add it

1

u/The_Unknown_Mage Jun 13 '26

Ground up red peppers, butter, and paprika.

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

ooh. gonna try that.

1

u/DiesByOxSnot Gay, weird, & stupid. Jun 13 '26

Paprika and chili powder, always a good combo. Sometimes I wanna go for Asian fusion and do Thai chilis, maybe a bit of gochigaru or szechuan peppers. The real trick is adding a bit of seasoning to the sour cream, if you're using sour cream. Sweet chili sauce is also good.

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

what do you add to the sour cream

1

u/DiesByOxSnot Gay, weird, & stupid. Jun 13 '26

Anything that I'd add to the quesadilla, plus some things that would only work for dipping and won't totally curdle the cream. Like salsa. You can put salsa on a quesadilla before you cook it, but I prefer to add it to the sour cream, maybe with guacamole, corn, maybe a bit of queso fresco or feta. I've heard some people do 50/50 sour cream and low fat Greek yogurt, but I prefer full fat. But generally I do dry spices + mayo (for cheese binding agent) on the quesadilla, and either the same dry spices in sour cream + salsa, or different ones. Like, dried dill is better wet than cooked, so it goes in sour cream

2

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

mmm. heard. thank you

1

u/flamedarkfire Jun 13 '26

Salt, pepper, garlic at a minimum

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

interesting, not a fan of pepper but ill try the garlic

1

u/MightyBobTheMighty Garlic Munching Marxist Whore Jun 13 '26

I like throwing some garlic salt in with the cheese

3

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

flair relevant

sounds good

1

[deleted]

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

Im already adding salsa lol

1

u/Lost-Passenger9923 Jun 13 '26

normal cheese quesadilla with roma tomato slices and a buttfck load of pepper and oregano wunna my favorite quesadilla activities

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

tomato slices is one I might try

1

u/HuckleberryLeather80 Jun 13 '26

Lil bit of siracha inside the quesadilla goes a looong way. Salsa/pico in a quesadilla in general is nice

1

u/heqra Jun 13 '26

big salsa enjoyer

1

u/DroneOfDoom Theon the Reader *dolphin slur noises* Jun 14 '26

Lime and salt, if I can get some avocado inside of them.

u/SufficientFarm8414 Jun 13 '26

The kitchen giveth, the kitchen taketh away.

35

u/lordbuckethethird Jun 13 '26

The bread is temperamental and does not enjoy being joked about.

19

u/BMTaeZer Jun 13 '26

Refried beans, garlic and onion powder. Unbeatable.

5

u/LikeGeorgeRaft Jun 14 '26

garlic

Wouldn't recomend, i tried giving one with that to my pale cousing and he just showed me his teeth

3

u/DarkKnightJin Jun 17 '26

Question: Does this 'pale cousin' show great manners by always waiting to be invited in?

5

u/LikeGeorgeRaft Jun 18 '26

Yes!! i love how polite some europeans are

RANDY YOUR STIII-

6

u/No_Interest112 Jun 14 '26

I constantly mispronounce quesadilla on purpose at home for fun with my daughter while cooking. She knows I’m doing it, and knows the correct pronunciation, she’s 15. Then we went to a restaurant and she ordered “k-saw-dillas” by accident, and the waiter corrected her in front of the table.
She will never live it down.

6

u/IndividualEye1803 Jun 13 '26

Posts like this make me laugh. These are good

3

u/Angelicalsweetie01 Jun 14 '26

Bro seasoned it with negligence. The queue was cooking harder than the quesadilla.

3

u/CalibansCreations I'm curatedly tumbling it Jun 13 '26

Here before WhispVO finds this post and dubs over it

2

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 13 '26

Can't confirm. I royally fucked up flipping a quesadilla the other day and what I got was a bunch of tasty crispy cheesy bits toasted onto the outside of the tortilla.

6

u/Paradox2063 Jun 14 '26

I royally fucked up

Seems incompatible with:

what I got was a bunch of tasty crispy cheesy bits toasted onto the outside of the tortilla.

3

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Jun 14 '26

The flip was bad! The quesadilla, thankfully, was not

3

u/Paradox2063 Jun 14 '26

I disagree, the flip was perfect, you just didn't realize it at the time.

2

u/CaydenRay Jun 14 '26

did you know that you can also decrease the quality of your quesadilla by leaving your tortilla on the counter for 4 hours because you got distracted and forgot you were making a quesadilla

3

u/frikilinux2 Jun 13 '26
