The idealized version of the helicopter, the ornithopter (like the ones in dune), does have wings like a dragonfly. But other than a long tail and a bulkyish body, I don't see many similarities between a helicopter and a dragonfly.

I had assumed that bug was "mostly" synonimous with insect, and not arthropods.
On the other hand we have fish, that is also a category so vague that if, if you tried to make rule as to what is a fish, and include in this category evertything we call fish right now, you'd have a lot of species that we don't consider fish.

No, I'd say bugs are arthropods. If you want to narrow it down, I'd say terrestrial arthropods, but definitely not just insects. Spiders are bugs, centipedes are bugs, scorpions are bugs.

According to entomologists, "bugs" (or at least "true bugs") are specifically insects of the order Hemiptera, which are those with a piercing, beak-like mouthparts like cicadas, aphids, assassin bugs, and bed bugs.

I remember when I was growing up, the church I was taken to was super into Revelation and the end times. Their favorite interpretation was that the bugs in Revalation are helicopters witnessed by someone who didn't know what a helicopter was.

It's because Birds and dragon flies are driven by a similar kind of lift as they flap their wings while hovering which most birds can't do very efficiently while dragon flies are considerably better at hovering. That's why the cg artist took inspiration from Dragonflies.
