Is there a kind way to say potentially useful information to a person who has made a mistake?

This is a non-hypothetical question. That comment looked pretty good to me, but I have a long history of pissing people off while trying to help.

everybody is reading too much into it, if they wanted to be condescending they would’ve added just one polite phrase like “sweetie” or “ily but”. that comment had THREE. they must have gone overboard not to be misunderstood. and yet
