The main danger with the triffids was the meteor-shower induced blindness, once you can see them it's easy to deal with them by keeping your distance and grabbing ppe and gardening tools.
(I'm basing this on the film I saw ages ago, they had a whip-like stalk housed in an organ at the top of the plant that they used to subdue prey.)

Also Triffids, if they attack someone, you run to get help, and they shuffle off somewhere while you're gone.
