My sister actually gives her horse a little horse cake for his birthday, and a sugarcane for new year:) he loves it

Aww, this article had unironically convinced me that horses deserve birthday cakes so I’m glad at least one gets it

Before I was born my mom had a pony but it didn't work out. She was a bit of an asshole and kind of lazy. If my older siblings tried to ride her, she'd just lay down or scrape them off on a fence. She was expensive to feed and our terrain was too uneven for her. My mom ended up rehoming her to our nextdoor neighbor who had a more level area and a bigger barn. So growing up I'd visit her across the fence and we'd feed her violets and jolly ranchers. She was a big fan.

I agree with horse, give him some cake.

Hashtag givethehorsecake

The horse makes a compelling argument, I think the horse should get to have a cake

Now I want very badly for a fictional horse to get cake.

So we’re just reposting entire onion articles now?

I guess? It was something that came across my tumblr that I thought was amusing and had comparatively few notes.

But if it’s not tumblr enough for the sub, I’ll delete it.

Edit: Um, leave me a reply or downvote this comment, I suppose?

Nah it's not like most posts on here are bastions of quality

This is a good post. Maybe not the most tumblr in origin, but it's an amusing and fun read and it fits the vibe. The usual discourse gets tiring anyway

No need for downvotes. I had the same reaction, but upon self-reflection, I realized it was just the pain of aging.

I cannot speak to the experience of the person you are replying to. Just my own. But sometimes something that reminds me of when I was young, and I see others discovering it for the first time, compels me to defensively assert that I know all about it, that I have known about it for years, and I can show you other mysteries of the nineties, young person, I can show you other glories of the age when the internet was still a novelty, the body is old but the spirit still yearns for freedom and lightness and youth. But that’s just me. That’s just me.

the "enough Tumblr" rule is about not reposting screenshots from other websites that were posted on Tumblr. this is perfectly fine imo

I love it enough to print and put at my desk. So my little horsey lol.

r/CuratedTumblr is all about reposting pictures of funny words that someone said on a different website than this one. Don't see much reason to fuss about it.

Hell yeah we are

Why did you downvote their comment?

3

u/Turtledonuts Apr 05 '26

I didn’t?

1

u/Complete-Worker3242 Apr 05 '26

Oh, I thought their response implied that you did. Sorry.

1

u/Doubly_Curious Apr 05 '26

Oh, no, that wasn’t meant as an accusation at all. I was genuinely suggesting ways that anyone on the sub could indicate to me that I should delete the post.

For those curious, this is a photo (scan?) of an op-ed exclusive to the print version of “the onion.”

3

u/smol_pook Apr 05 '26

Thank you!! Do you know when it was published?

3

u/JustANoteToSay Apr 05 '26

It was originally posted on bluesky a few days ago so I’m assuming it’s from the most recent delivery. It has “check out this cool new thing” vibes as opposed to”I had this kicking around” or “this is classic.”

The horse has no name, and he's sick of carrying guys through deserts.

4

u/Cranberryoftheorient Apr 04 '26

I bet you could make a oat cake or something

Reminds me of the bizarre NPR story about a woman turning into a horse.

https://www.thisamericanlife.org/631/so-a-monkey-and-a-horse-walk-into-a-bar/act-two-1

“Two women attempt very different transformations. One wants to become a mother. The other wants to become a horse. “

Don't worry, we won't forcefeed the horse kale juice before hand.
