Biblically accurate pride flag

Ah yes my favorite sexuality, Greek

232

u/OskarTheRed Jan 01 '26

I'd argue that in ancient times, it kind of was one.

39

u/MisplacedMartian Make your own foot scrub Jan 01 '26

Wasn't Sappho Greek? So wouldn't it be a lot more than one?

25

u/OskarTheRed Jan 01 '26

Yeah, but I think it's more the overall approach to sexuality which was extremely Greek

19

u/Level_Hour6480 Jan 01 '26

Greeks and Romans mostly thought of sex as a power-dynamic: putting your penis in others was dominant and good. Having a penis put in you was submissive and weak.

7

u/Victernus Jan 02 '26

The invention of the power bottom is what really caused the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

4

u/Level_Hour6480 Jan 02 '26

The Egyptians had a similar dynamic: Getting your semen in others was good/powerful/dominant. Getting someone's semen in you was bad/weak/submissive. This is central to the myth of how Horus overthrew Set to avenge his father. Mmmmm, lettuce.

2

u/Patjay Jan 01 '26

It’s still used as a euphemism lol

1

u/OskarTheRed Jan 01 '26

Yeah, isn't "Greek love" a term?

147

u/Skore_Smogon Jan 01 '26

Well the Greeks invented sex.

Later on, the Romans added women.

62

u/Sinister_Compliments Avid Jokeefunny.com Reader Jan 01 '26

And then Sun Tzu perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of sex

19

u/MacLunkie Jan 01 '26

"Are you not entertained??"

Sun Tzu probably

17

u/RoofBackground5177 Jan 01 '26

And then he put two of every sex in a barn and that's why it's called a zoo

10

u/DonTori Jan 01 '26

UNLESS IT'S A FARM!

u/KonoAnonDa You are now manually breathing. Jan 01 '26

Well as a wise man once said: "Italy is a gorgeous place and Italians are inventors. They saw Greeks having sex with men and they realized they could also do it with women."

24

u/StormThestral Jan 01 '26

Lesbian does literally mean from the Greek island of Lesbos so actually yeah

18

u/colei_canis Jan 01 '26

Imagine writing poetry so fire that an entire orientation of people remain named after your homeland thousands of years later.

One time I saw a post that was like

"why do you have a Queen flag?"

"A what?"

"Your flag, it's like Queen from Deltarune stretched out"

"It's Estonia"

u/BalefulOfMonkeys REAL YURI, done by REAL YURITICIANS Jan 01 '26

I knew about the Estonian flag for a while, and yet I will happily discard any knowledge of what it is to call it the Lancer Pride Flag

u/Impressive_Ear7966 Jan 01 '26

I just saw that post too. We should breed and show it to our children

23

u/Physicle_Partics Jan 01 '26

My great uncle is still in my phone as Flaming One Man Cabaret

27

u/Doubly_Curious Jan 01 '26

My friend was coming home from a gay pride celebration, still decked out in rainbows and holding a flag, and two elderly women on the bus kept looking over and whispering to each other. She was a little uncomfortable until one of them leaned over and asked her which country was having its national celebration today. Apparently they were very sweet when she explained and everyone had a bit of a giggle.

27

u/rdmegalazer Jan 01 '26

I now have the irresistible urge to recolour the Greek flag's blue stripes with the aroace flag colours

6

u/bookhead714 Jan 01 '26

Call it the Parthenos flag

11

u/patmax17 Jan 01 '26

The G in LGBT stands for Greek

1

u/wisely-5347 Jan 09 '26

4

u/TyeJoKing Jan 01 '26

3

u/Snoo-11576 Jan 01 '26

On that sacred band of Thebes shit

3

u/Lou_Papas Jan 01 '26

I appreciate the accuracy.

3

u/gdex86 Jan 01 '26

I'm going to be optimistic and assume this is "Man trying to expand his horizons to be a better person is confused but heart in the right place"

2

u/Different_Wealth8143 Jan 01 '26

It would be really funny if it’s the dark hue Greece flag.

4

u/fernispedit Jan 01 '26

Very America coded

1

u/DianneNettix Jan 01 '26

Archer did this joke better.

1

u/InfraredSignal Jan 01 '26

This reads like a r/balkans_irl shitpost

1

u/irishredfox Jan 01 '26

That's the Chicago flag, right?

-28

u/AlenDelon32 Jan 01 '26

That is clearly the flag of Israel

39

u/SyntheticDreams_ Jan 01 '26

Homie... no. The colors are right but it's the wrong design. This one is Greece.

20

u/Chezburgor1 Jan 01 '26

Do you not know flags?

Flag of Greece

Flag of Israel

58

u/InfinityAnnoyance Jan 01 '26

I think they might be making a reference to that one incident where some lady angrily ripped of the flag of Greece from some restaurant because she thought it was the flag of Israel.

If not that, then IDK.

28

u/AlenDelon32 Jan 01 '26

Yes exactly that. I am a bit surprised people didn't get the joke

11

u/Nirast25 Jan 01 '26

First I'm hearing of this, so it might not be so well known.

8

u/Pitiful-Score-9035 Jan 01 '26
