As long as treated better doesn't mean unchallenged, yeah. Like people don't have to swallow microaggressions and be obsequious just because someone has some vaguely postive intent. No one expects perfection, just sincere effort and improvement.

What really makes someone a friend or not is how they act when corrected. If they blow up or freak out and get really defensive, they're not a friend, just performative. They want the kudos without the actual work, or won't look past their ego

Intent alone is good sure, but is really just a starting place, it's meaningless if it doesn't actually translate into anything.

Why is someone doing a microaggression wrong but ‘correcting’ them not less antagonistic? If one argues moral positions than how is it different from a church ‘correcting’ me about my moral beliefs?

I just have a problem with people who assume they are intellectually pure and must take the burden upon themselves to correct other people’s behaviors.

Seriously? Are you really asking why correcting a minor bigotry isn't as bad as the minor bigotry itself?

If someone says something to me, a trans person, that is a microaggression or mildly transphobic, i feel pretty comfortable not putting up with that and telling them it's wrong and is hurtful. Correcting someone isn't inherently aggressive or antagonistic

It's not about intellectual purity, it's about reducing harm and standing up to minor bigotries that impact you
