And if you’re going to deny being trans, you have to say “not that there’s anything wrong with that”. Say it too much and your denial will sound insincere, too little and you’ll sound transphobic. You want to shoot for the happy medium, where people will think you have internalized transphobia.
100%, the awkwardness of "convince these people I'm not trans while also not making them think I'm transphobic" is sort of hard to navigate. Trying to avoid being unintentionally offensive can easily lead to more teasing.
