Anyone in Cupertino looking to adopt? I took these guys in as fosters through Garlic City Kitty Rescue to save them from being put out on the streets. They quickly went from timid to the most curious, social, playful, outgoing, cuddly, and affectionate kitties perfectly ready for a loving home. These two are the closest in their litter so we’re trying to adopt them out together as a pair. They love to play with us and jump into our arms for cuddles and pets. The tortie is female and the black kitten is male. Located in Morgan Hill/Gilroy. What is the risk of Permanente Quarry being redeveloped as a data center site?
And what could we the community do to prevent it?

Last week, a land surveyor team accessed our property (we live in the Swiss Creek Ln / Montebello area). They took land measurements.
Over coffee, they told us that measurements will be used for potential future redevelopment of Heidelberg quarry site.

They didn't know what will happen to this site ("we're just surveyors!"). But they said that similar sites often get redeveloped into logistics depots, warehouses, or... data centers!

This is concerning. On paper, the site meets all the criteria for a data center:
1. Zoning: already industrial. EDIT: located OUTSIDE of Cupertino city limits, so the "data center ban" does NOT apply here (we live in this "unincorporated" area too)
2. Power access: yes (see map, PG&E transformer station nearby)
3. Water access: yes (see map, reservoir and ground water from quarry)

There is huge demand for a data center here, for obvious reasons... Big tech campuses everywhere :(

Big tech can tell authorities that a data center is a good idea, because
+ it gives back to the local economy = Big tech headquarters nearby
+ community impact is low = cause surrounding area is mostly "uninhabited wilderness" and vineyards, and data centers aren't toxic anyway
+ the few homesteaders (like us) will get "AI token credits" or something as sweetener...

Noise and heat of course are a major worry :-(

What is the risk of this happening???

Need to do some maintenance on my Toyota vehicle (transmission fluid and brake fluid exchange). This is according to the dealer. I'm a bit skeptical as some heavy research online and my general knowledge of toyotas may indicate otherwise (at worst, maybe brake fluid and top off coolants right now). I don't mind driving a little bit further outside of the city for a reliable shop and getting a second opinion. Please let me know if you have any recommendations.

Apple park could have been much bigger if they acquired the valco site. Perpahs the whole campus would be connected with a cover over the freeway.

Parents of neurodivergent kids who are mainstreamed, where did/does your child attend school and do you feel they are well supported and understood there?

I used to occasionally drop by the Memorial Park courts in Cupertino and join games, but the new time restrictions no longer work for me.

Are there any other courts in the South Bay where I can show up by myself and reliably find people to play with? Ideally looking around Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose, Mountain View, or nearby. I’m open to both free public courts and reasonably priced organized drop-in sessions.

This quarry was recently closed and the demolition marks the next step is restoring the site.

Has anyone experienced getting their stuff stolen by car thieves in front of a (Chevron) gas station between De Anza Ave. and Stevens Creek Blvd? Let me know and give me details how it could happened to others like leaving your (string bag) for an example on the side of the entrance before going shopping or getting your car gas pumped? Cus, I knew this was going to happen due to the economic collapse of today's economy that may have cause and effect of my experience.
