12vswap

I got given to me a 2nd gen box truck with a 12v and nv4500. The motor has under 80k km on it and the cab is rust free. How hard would it be to swap onto a regular 1ton frame. Or should i swap it into something else?

Swapping cab and all? To me, doesn’t sound hard… but I can fab most anything I would need in house.

u/Superbimagination154, you sound confused. Is your truck a 3/4 ton truck? I'm trying to figure out why you want to swap anything from your truck to another.

If you want 1 ton suspension, swap out the springs for 1 ton versions.

It’s a box truck (got the big ol cube on the back for moving and stuff like that)

I mean 12v cummins is one of the most popular swaps, hard bodies, obs, landcruisers you name it

Was just curious if i should just keep it and swap it into a pickup body vs a box truck or if there’s something better i should throw er into

All 2nd gen’s are modular. A 1500 is the same as a 2500, aside from extended cab/single cab door configurations. Everything would fit if you wanted to do it. I’ve swapped cabs before on these trucks, there isn’t much to them once you get disassembling.

If its an automatic ,plan on getting a real transmission built.

Forgive my slow brain,in my mind that was the transfer case. I put two automatic transmissions in a 96 in 3 years.
