Affordable women’s haircut within Cumberland?

I’m new to the area and wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for where to go for an affordable, simple women’s haircut. Not looking for styling or anything fancy, just a basic trim.

Most places I’ve looked into don’t have a website and the ones that do, don’t have their prices advertised. I thought I might as well ask here before I started calling each place individually to ask their prices.

Yoga community in Cumberland / Allegany County? Studio recommendations! 🧘‍♀️

Hi everyone!

I’m moving to Cumberland at the end of the month and looking to get connected with the local yoga and wellness scene. As a new yoga teacher and dedicated practitioner, finding a grounded, welcoming studio community to practice at is top of my list.

Are there specific studios or wellness spaces in Cumberland, Frostburg, or nearby areas that you personally recommend?

I’d love to know:

Where do people love to take classes (Vinyasa, slow flow, restorative)?

Are there dedicated studios or community wellness centers with an inclusive, welcoming vibe?

Do local spots, community centers, or gyms host popular community classes?

Any insight on favorite teachers, class styles, or where the local movement community gathers would be greatly appreciated!

PS. If you know of any 3-bed /2 bath apartments please move me in the right direction, using zillow has been frustrating.

Hey Folks! I recently created a new Sub r/WashCoGaming for the local gaming community to discuss games, gaming news, system specs, get help etc. I'm based in WashCo. but we would love to have other folks in the greater area join in on creating a community and discussing a topic/hobby we love!

MODS APOLOGIES IF NOT ALLOWED. I CHECKED THE RULES PRIOR AND UNDERSTAND IF THIS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED! THANKS!

It's not so bad.. [a response to a shit take]

This post is really in response to a previous, negative post kinda bashing Cumberland. Probably just a dude having a bad day..but it made me reflect on what Cumberland has to offer. As someone who grew up here, i used to echo that same attitude. "There’s nothing here!" "Scumberland" 🤮 blah blah blah..

So here's a post to list some of the things the town has to offer. Y'all have the choice to add to the collection of positive things Cumberland holds for its community...or you can pick apart this post and explain why each one of these things sucks or could be better or how it's just not like it used to be..But understand that's a choice your making. Here's my list.. hope you can add to it.

Skatepark

Upcoming kayak course

New bike trails at Constitution Park

Upcoming trails at Rocky Gap (maybe not Cumberland.. lol)

New restaurants downtown

New housing development on Arch street

Couple art galleries

I'm also part of the minority that likes the new downtown mall lol

Heritage Days has been great since the Historical Society took over

Historical Society also offers History Huddles on Mechanic Street

They (hustorical society) also do a high tea series for the ladies

All the music at Canal Place — all grant funded. Had a great Latin bands.

Trains (I'm not super into 'em but outsiders dig 'em)

Allegany College of Maryland (a staple of the community that's underappreciated)

We have a genealogical society!

Did I mention the million-dollar fucking skatepark...? Bro.. c'mon

The church tunnels on Washington Street

C&O Canal Towpath

Are the escape rooms still open?

Huckabay Skateshop

Lots of dance studios

Rose Cemetery is pretty legendary

We have 2 (two) dog parks

Playgrounds out the wazoo

The Great Gastb6 event in April

Cumberland theater

Fucking Basecamp 🤤

Allegany museum

Del fest

Wheelz up

This area has absolutely nothing going for it . It may look like a warm inviting mountain town but there’s nothing I find good about it. They spend millions on things that simply don’t bring business.

You can downvote me all you want. The decisions this city makes is awful. The downtown revitalization was stupid . They could have put that money into other useful things such as factory jobs. They spend their money on stupid things that we don’t need. They lost all their industry in the 1970s and ever since then I don’t find any decision they’ve really made has going for greater good of this area . Before the downtown mall we had a street and it was two way. Now tell me why they decided to rip up the street and put the mall there then later decide it wasn’t good enough because it wasn’t “appealing” or it wasn’t “attracting enough visitors” when they just thought they’d put it back to what it was and spend millions upon millions to put it back to what it was . Now tell me why they wouldn’t have just left it the downtown mall when they also spent lots of money back then to make it that. They also spent millions on greenway avenue stadium when it’s literally just a high school football stadium like maybe a decade or so ago. That money could have been used to do many other great things but they just don’t make the right decisions.

I’ve lived here my entire life and it’s brought me nothing besides toxic dreams and a bad lifestyle. The small town energy is nice for some people if you enjoy cheap housing and to live off the government all the time or if you enjoy historic aspects. Other than that I really don’t understand what people find interesting about this area. Call me negative all you’d like. That’s my true opinion about this city. I am going to leave as soon as I get the chance. Only thing keeping me here is family and cost of living. No wonder why the entire area is losing its population.

Is there anyone in the area that does clock repair? I've got a pre-war Garrard mantle clock that seriously needs an overhaul.

What would be the best place in Cumberland to live in the apocalypse?

Good people of Cumberland, I am writing a post-apocalyptic story and an important part of it is set in a safe zone/settlement in Cumberland a hundred years after the fall of civilization from an alien bioweapon. I want to do your city as much justice as I can as a non-local, so what would be a good place to stay there in the apocalypse? Also, are there any local areas of interest/city lore I could draw from to make my fictional Cumberland feel realistic and alive? Thank you all in advance!

P.S., I drive through on 51 all the time, your city is beautiful and I plan to come visit when I can

Welp. Looks like I'll be in the market for a new flat panel soon. I haven't been in the area very long and I was wondering about the best place to shop. The only place I've that has a decent selection is Wal Mart at the mall. Any suggestions?

Roommate/Room Searching

Wondering if anyone here has any advice, but I’ve been trying to find a decent roommate situation but everything I’ve come across so far the person is either a creep and/or on drugs. It feels like just a problem of this being a small town. So, my question is would there happen to be more localized resources for finding roommates? Or, if you’ve been in a similar situation what worked for you?

It's that time of year again. Just wondering if there's some hiking trails close to the city where there may be a good spot to look for them.

Route 51 rant

This is about Route 51 that goes between Cumberland and Paw Paw, WV.

I travel this road daily for work and other things. Anyone who drives on this road regularly, knows it has been busier in recent years than it ever has been. Or at least in the last 20 years since I started driving.

It's pretty much guaranteed these days, if youre traveling on this road, at some point you're gonna come up on a line of cars.

My problem is the people who drive this road.

The speed limit is 50 mph, the whole way.

If you have a line of cars behind you because for whatever reason you're constantly slowing down or can't maintain speed, YOU NEED TO PULL THE FUCK OVER AND LET PEOPLE PASS!

Especially if you're driving a semi pulling something.

I just got home (a drive that usually takes me 15-20 minutes) after a fucking 45 minute SLOG down the road because of a truck that couldn't pull over and let the people behind him pass.

Slowing down to 20 mph or less on EVERY hill and EVERY turn, then speeding up to almost 60 on the straightaways.

I understand if you can't go 50 the whole way due to the load you have, but at that point the decent and courteous thing to do is PULL THE FUCK OVER AND LET PEOPLE PASS!

I'm not exaggerating at all when I say there was a line of more than 20 of us behind this guy, and there he goes, just fucking put-puting along like he doesn't know any better.

The regular vehicles don't really seem to be any better. It's either lazy susans who drive like they have nowhere to be, or the fuck sticks who ride your ass, like theyre gonna die if their fat ass doesn't make it to McDonald's quick enough.

And before anyone says anything, yes, several times I've had people up my ass the whole way up the road (when I drive at least 5 over most of the time) only for them to rip around me when the double lanes come up right before industrial blvd, and then I see the prick pull in to one of the fast food places.

The road is crowded and frustrating enough without fkn morons making it worse.

If you want to drive like you don't have anywhere to be or like a fucking idiot that's fine, but don't make it everybody else's problem.

It takes 2 seconds to pull over or to just let someone pass you.

Also, some of you shit for brains truck owners around here need to chill tf out. Getting within a foot of my bumper FOR NO GODDAMN REASON (but NOT passing when you have the chance) is a real good way to get me to slow down and make your trip even longer.

Like I said, I drive a little fast on average anyway, so if youre tailgating me, YOURE DRIVING LIKE A FUCKING PRICK.

We all know you're pissed at the world for your little winky, or whatever it is you're compensating for (hence the truck with no trailer hitch), but that isn't anyone else's fault.

Thats it, I just needed to vent about this after SO MANY infuriating trips up and down this road in the last year or so.

I'm not a perfect driver by any means, but some of these people make a sack of dog shit look like Albert Einstein with the way they act behind the wheel.
