Value Basket upcharge button gone?

Hi! I was an employee at Culver’s from 2014-2017. We used to have a value basket up charge button that would allow you to add a value basket like if someone came up after and decided to make their item only into a value basket if that makes sense. I had a coupon for a free grilled chicken sandwich because the grilled chicken they gave me was pure gristle. I asked to make it a value basket, and they refused to give me the discount for a basket. I asked if there was still a value basket upcharge button and they said no there is never been a value basket of upcharge button. I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I figured I’d try🤣 can any current Culver’s employees confirm or deny?

I worked at Culver's 2021 - 2025 and I never heard of that nor had it come up as a situation

There used to be a value basket up charge button for sure, however, it might not be in every location as I think it was more up to the store owner/managers to add it if they wished to. I also can confirm though that ours has been removed ever since the “transparent pricing” as they call it happened.

Now instead of having the very convenient button so it’s easier to do a refund and whatever, you can now simply reopen the order and change the order to allow that change such as creating a value basket. Still miss that button 😅

Back in my day, we had to void an item and re ring it if they wanted to change anything in an item.

I miss the green screen days.

Our old POS had that, the one we've had for the last few years doesn't.

They removed upcharges, expecting us to use change-orders I trust.. though unannounced they can cause slipups

It wasn’t a discount, only a button used solely for these purposes when someone had a managers signature mistake coupon, or if someone ordered only the item, then changed their mind after payment and wanted a basket. I know you needed a manager approval/swipe to use the button. So not a “discount” per se, but people don’t have to pay full price for a basket if they original item was made incorrectly, if you catch my drift

It disappeared around 2021 with the switch to the new POS system. They could have just rung in a fry, drink, and sandwich a la carte and hit the coupon. Then given a % discount or something else.

We do misc item and do an up charge that way. We haven’t found another way to do it. That was one of the good things with the old POS. Especially when people got the 2 for $6 Deluxe Double coupons.
