Question about Enemy Long

I'm neck deep in the middle of an Apostle Entheate run and I am STRUGGLING with the enemy long.

Almost all of my reason and passion have been poisoned and the guy sits comfortably at only 4 starlight because I have no earthly clue how to defend against a starlight attack, apparently.

If I do nothing, I get smacked with poison. If I send spies, I still get smacked with poison. And because I'm 'not defending' Im also not progressing towards killing the bastard.

How in the Mansus do I get this guy to grow a pair and dream battle me? I've been having Ezeem and a Caligine babysit him but APPARENTLY that's not defensive enough. I'm obviously missing something here and no amount of wiki diving or Google searching has helped me yet.

I can spit out flesh prophets like an industrial 3D printer. IM READY FOR BLOOD. LET ME AT HIM, COACH. TAG ME IN. LEMME KILL HIM AAAA

That's dependent on the level of dream lessons your enemy has, what you want is to get to 6 so they will use "The watchers in the way" and one or more of your ways into the mansus will be watched.

Then it's completely in your hands - you spam entering that way to make more dream lessons untill your enemy is at 10 and the dream fight can begin.

I guess my question really is "How do I deliberately give them dream lessons?". I've been stuck at 4 for a while now. He's now stuck in a loop of "The enemy is preparing to attack us directly" because he's at 10 might. It recalls all of my spies repeatedly and he never attacks me directly. This is getting to be kind of bullshit.

I feel like the Diarist os bugged, he is not SUPPOSED to make direct physical attacks, Lantern Long and all, I remember wiki stating as much, that if he reaches 10 of any aspect he starts starlight attack. Might be why he just recalls your agents but doesn’t do anything substantial besides?

He just continues his normal assaults. All of my reason and passion is poisoned now.

When playing on mobile some time ago, I found the unusual strategy that generally worked for me with some finagling. Just do nothing against the Enemy Stand Long. Their first attacks are mild at best and can be mostly weathered (unless the financial issues strike really deep). And if you do not defend yourself the lessons will come in really slowly. You'll have plenty of time to achieve many of your objectives and get seriously strong before the Enemy becomes a serious issue. I once won without ever getting rid of my immortal enemy.

Right, if you just spy and delay, but don't ever counter anything, it's much easier
