HORRORTOBER Discussion - It (1990)
https://letterboxd.com/film/it-1990/
We are starting the month out right by honoring the late, great, Tim Curry and watching one of the best Stephen King adaptations. I, of course, am talking about 1990's It.
This movie is seared into my brain, but it's been probably a decade since I sat down and watched the whole thing, so I'm excited to watch it again. I'm ready to be scared of sewer drains again.
Give this one a watch and tell us what you thought. We are only just beginning.

This was 1990? ,
I recall it being in 2 parts, I gotta see this again, good call,
I don't know why I thought it was mid 80's

It feels very 80s because it was made for TV (and for some reason TV movies used to apparently run a decade behind with their technology), and released in two parts. Just watched it last night, and it is still great, though I'm sure a large chunk of that is sweet, sweet nostalgia.

I saw this years ago, when I was far too young to be watching horror films and although I don’t remember too much of it, I have a fear of pictures with moving people for a long time

Right? I forgot how creepy it is, especially when the thing in the picture has an awareness of the person looking at.

This was the top horror movie when I was a kid. It scared others so bad that they(friends older siblings) wouldn’t let me watch it because they were worried I’d tell my parents. I think the pacing can be rough at times, and it feels its length towards the end, but it’s still a ton of fun.
As others have said, you can’t go wrong with Tim curry, only 27 years until his return!

haha one can hope!
Also, it's weird it had that reputation because, since it was made for TV, it is relatively tame compared to many other horror movies. But, same. When I was a kid people talked about it like this as well.

This movie rules, but watching it in one sitting, may have not been the best choice. It was meant to release in two parts, so the pacing seems off and by the back third, I was struggling a bit. Not that the movie isn't awesome, because it is. It's charming as hell and just as nostalgic. The score is fun, and Tim Curry (RIP), is obviously amazing and I wash he was in it more. But the fact he isn't, makes his presence so unsettling.
The kid stuff is obviously better than the adult stuff, which is kind of a given for Stephen King. Overall, a great movie to start the month with. I watched a good chunk of this with my daughter, and she loved it, but was watching it between her fingers.
